Liars or am I doing something wrong?
Mark White replied to Leamo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
this is a good question on a set distance on a open field the wind coming from left to right with a bullet spinning clock wise with a wind of about 10 mph it will come into play within a few meters of leaving the rifle but this is not really going to make any difference to some one shooting rabbits at 50 yards at 25 meters it will be about 1/2 a bullet off centre and at 50 meters just over a bullet at a hundred meters about inch and a half. if the wind is right to left with a bullet spinning clock wise the bullet will only be about half the measurements I have given this is on my guns set up -
my ir filter i made works ok out to about 30 yards with a night camera so i dont think it works to well but I may of just been to the limit of the camera it only a little fixed point door security cam with night vision still waiting for the zoom lens to come. where can i buy this ir film people talking about as i can not find the size i need on evilbay I am using my deban lamp about 8cm lens or is a lazer ir better and how much are they

some very good view great read I consider myself as a pest controller I do make money some times for the job in hand but most of my money is made from what I shoot directly or indirectly I enjoy the hunting and see it as a job I hate shooting any animal that has dependants but it comes with the territory I do try and educate the people I am shooting for and try to explain take the numbers down before breeding will mean less breed this is what I call control. the ones that I get cross with are the ones that say I got a some thing eating my stock be it live or plant when you look at the pens the

Sorry I forgot to say look at what you place your guns on if you sight your guns on a hard surface or a soft surface as the biggest mistake people make is changing the surface they shot on especially at long distance how many of you shoot a rabbit a 30 yards free hand a rabbit at 50 yards kneeling and a rabbit at 100yards off the side of a tree or on sticks all this will change the point of impact by loads but at a short range this is not so noticeable try it 40 yards a rifle can shoot inside a 10 pence piece now change the surface or hold the gun tight or lose and watch the group change. -

I can say it not I am a target shooter I know in comps I us a heavy barrel but I still group within a inch I do get the odd flyer. I also use my hunting rifle on the same range prone with no rest and I normally group with in 2 inches with the odd flyer. most of what people are saying is the set up of the gun with ammo is I use remmington I can not group 3 inches at 100 yards I zero my rifle at 75 yards and shot out to about 150. if you want to know more about why your rifles do what they do you need to look at reloading topics I know you can not reload .22 but the science is the same. bullet w -

I would like to know to. I know a farmer years ago that had a 4 10 he went to his cabinet to show me and it was not there he had not used it for a couple of years so he went round his house it turned up in his out house in parts some old shells and the stock in a draw and the barrels down the side of some cupboards it took him a couple of of hours to find it all. I also had the police loss the paper work for my 9mm garden gun when I moved I had the same officer turn up to check my cabinet and guns for safety they had no records of it I could have sold it lost it and they would have never known

That's right regarding birds, but it's perfectly legal to use an electronic call for Foxes. That's right regarding birds, but it's perfectly legal to use an electronic call for Foxes. if I am right you can not use them on any game species or deer only vermin and pests. I thought you could use them for crow and alike though maybe wrong but I can remember some bloke in a shop buying one for crow shooting as he was asking about the calls on it.

i know the cats can be a pain but these are on the farm for a reason as the owner wants them there as they keep the rats mice and squirrels and rabbits down they dont eat her live stock either I am going out in the early morning to see what is about but sunday should be good as I know what time the deer come past now so can refill the freezer

-
Ok from what people are saying I am going with a remote control caller but making my own I have found a mp3 with remote for under a fiver I have speaker for under a tenner and the sound quality is good found a site that does free sounds easy to download but is american so not many that are compatible for over here and it looks easy to transport I will give you a up date once it is done. for under £20 if it works cant be bad and if not nothing really lost. I have tried it on my own mp3 and old speaker in the garden and the local cats have already come in on a rodent squeak and a rabbit squeal.
-
I did not say i would spend lots of money I am thinking of a mp 3 player with external speaker I have been looking on you tube but there is nothing wrong with spending money if it works

I think I will have a look there it seems these calls may be the way to go

Like to see him try that with me he would not stand a chance, unless you where on his ground or killing them unlawfully there is nothing they could do in fact as a study this I would think becomes part of it along with anyone else involved in foxes. I would of sent more back -

I can call on my hand and with my lips I can call cats dogs and squirrels without much of a problem but never seem to get foxes unless they are only about 100 yards away if they are a couple of hundred yards away they will not come they will look but that is it this is why I bought this caller but it does nothing more then what I can do on my hand. If you read my first post you will see I called cats roe muntjac and even rabbits came over to look I guess I am doing some thing right but I feel I am doing something wrong to. but I dont no what I do have the same problem in the winter but I never -
thats what i have I found a clip on you tube of the seller using it and mine does not work like it at all I have to blow very hard and bite down hard too to get any sound out of it and it only makes about 3 different calls I think the reed is to long as it seems to stick to the plastic bar not allowing the air to pass over it. I have emailed them with my concerns but have heard nothing back yet I dout i will.

Right here goes I have been shooting for 20 odd years now and shot my fare share of foxes when they turn up as most of my customers are happy with that or I have gone out looking for them over a largish amount of land but I have been asked recently to shoot some foxes that are turning up at some point in the night and taking chickens turkeys and a lamb to date on quite small patches of land about 20 acres these are hobby small holdings. I can not put out live cage traps as they all have feral cats on them, So I bought a fox caller from decoys uk the reviews are very good according to the web s

I had a squirrel once that run at me from a corn field I was sitting under a oak tree at the time shooting pigeons I think it must of had babies or some thing in it as it jumped from about 4ft from the end of the barrel I shoot it as I swear it was going for my face I ended up with bits of squirrel over me coat and face it mad my mate laugh and myself a little after I got over the shock of nearly being eaten by a squirrel lol

I have been looking at doing this for a long time I have a old anolog panasonic camcorder with night vision, in its day cost about £600 I paid £20 for it a year ago I have tested it the dark out side and goes no more then about 5 meters as it only has one little red led bulb I am tempted to take it apart and use the lens and viewing monitor and battery pack and so on but I am sure it will still only go about 5 meters does anyone know if putting a lamp with infa red filter on would help in day time and dusk it will pull 500 yards in to a very good pick I could shoot a crow at 500 yards away if
