not wanting to sound like a arse buts owls do not return back to a pen what crap I have seen them or seen the after-marth the following morning in a month in one pen I remember well we lost over 50 in less then a month due to a tawny owl on average it was killing 5 to 7 a night we even put a camera up in the end just to make sure it was a tawny and not some thing else coming in as well. agree buzzards kill poults and will kill a few but normally 1 or 2 at a time. I fly a buzzard and to get it to take a pheasant is hard work unless it gets its self trapped and keeps running in to a fence as it

I am a falconer and was a full time keeper we had 6 resident buzzards only ever took poults that were inexperienced in the wild we would shoot rabbits daily and leave them for the birds which helped the poults. I not 100% here but most buzzards pull the guts out and leave them by the side of the body. the tawny owl is probably the worst one for pheasants and will take many poults in one sitting and eat the best bits and leave the rest buzzards will take what ever they can as long as it on the ground or just getting up or going down they will take hare but most do not have big enough feet or th

Please tell me you are joking if you are flying a common buzzard that is trained in a wild buzzards territory you wont have it for long I know of people with redtails which I guess you know are bigger and harder in the wild come a cropper shame on you. But I would quit my job to if some one paid me to fly my bird to lol.

Wanted pest control/crop protection

you could be the guy for rabbit control couple of hand grenades and a few rounds from a old sa80 should do the job not to respectful though -
I know of land owners that pay for deer management and pest control of rabbits and other vermin as they are feed up of people saying they will do the rabbits and deer and they either turn up once a month and shoot a few rabbits or go around shooting the trophy head deer leaving the younger deer to thrash the plant life which do more damage then the larger deer and in turn weaken the gene pool too. Sorry if that sounding like how to suck eggs to the people in the know but I think you can have to much land.

I can not see how that looks safe to me I use a back pack on my redtail but it sinks under the feathers but that would be ripped off or her ripped open within a couple of flights.

here is a little right up from the web just incase people think i am talking crap information is taken from a document provided on DEFRA website entitled: ‘Review of international research regarding the effectiveness of auditory bird scaring techniques and potential alternatives’. By J Bishop, H McKay, D Parrott and J Allan. “The basis for this deterrent is mimicry of real predators and evocation of fear and avoidance in the target species. Most potential prey species react to predator models; the strength of the response, however, varies between species (Conover 1979) and in some cases rapt

best thing i have found for any crow family is a eagle owl plastic one that flaps its wings they are about £15 from garden centres I came across this when flying my own bird of prey when ever she lands in a tree be a row or a wood they will mob like made on one particular day she landed on a tree in a row and was mobbed by no less then 30 magpies I watched them come across fields about 300 yards just to join in. I normally get 5 or 6 magpies that will mob they land in the trees and jump about chatting, crows and rooks about 15 but theses dont seem to land so you would need a shot gun.

here a pic of my set up I have tided it up a bit since i done this one as i said i do not use a tube on mine as there is no need and the camera is set well enough to use it as a head rest so it will make a 3 point shooting position instead of a 2 point. -

went out last night with my nite site and shot 14 rabbits took my friend who was well impressed longest shot was just over 100 meters away. I have been doing some research on the ns 200 the camera they use is a sony 1/3 ccd module which is the sensor with 540 tvl you can get these on ebay for around £50 but in my research I have found a camera that should be able to out do the ns200 by a few hundred meters I am also working on this camera at the moment to get depth of field which is no small challenge but it does look promising. so there should be a set up soon that should be able to get to a -

Wanted Help with a Career in pest control
Mark White replied to Barnett's topic in Shooting Opportunities
from what i have found people that run pest control dont do much shooting and the ones that do dont make much money or get much work from it as there are lots of people doing it for free so tend to work sole I would be more inclined to look at mole wasp and antis as the main then look at the shooting aspect as a side line most people dont have much in the way of a big garden to be able to shoot in so if they do have a problem they would need trapping and lots of them like live traps not the fen type. qualification wise dont really need any unless you use poison then the best place to go for th -
make sure the place is generally tidy and all cans or bottles of alcohol are out the way. Other then that put the kettle on and just chat as said above mine was there for about 15 mins other then me asking for advice on what rifles to have to shoot what and how many i could have we did not talk about guns at all he spent more time talking about kids partner and neighbours all part of the interview but very low key

Calling in a fox

I have had this when about to take a shot on the deer i have changed the ring tone to birds chirping on a sunny day and it does not scare the deer or rabbits off when people ring but you do look like or sound like a poof when in the town lol. -
Take a look at ns200 night site home made in nite sight forum I have listed every thing I have used and given some pics of how it works it really does get out to 200 meters plus and the pic is pretty clear to it could go on alot more if i had a more powerful light but dont need it. the best camera is cctv type which goes black and white with the lowest lux possible 0.5 is pretty good black and white are the best type as they do not have filiters built in to them to stop the light coming in to the camera meaning they work better with ir light then coloured cameras.

i was under the impression from reading a couple of articles if they where under X weeks old they get the virus but cannot die from it as there immune system has not developed enough for the virus to attack it properly and only have like a cold looking symptoms so they become immune. what you are saying all rabbits will die which does not appear to be happening my way as there numbers are picking up again but it went round like a wild fire last year

i was told by defra that AAA is minimum sizes not the only size sg and slugs are all legal although having read the act you are right it does not state or larger only in the act as a slaughter instrument I will just have to save my sg for foxes and get some AAA in the morning. I wonder why it say AAA and not let you use any thing bigger when it kills just as well if not better unless they feel less shot could cause injury. © is loaded with a cartridge purporting to contain shot none of which is less than .203 inches (5.16 millimetres) in diameter (that is to say, size AAA or

VHD that the one I could not think of what it was called when righting my other post on here I dont believe it was man made can you tell and the others I had it come through my shooting land last year pretty much wiped out all the adults but it must have came when the young where still young enough for it not to effect them and old enough for them to survive as they are back in quite large numbers good for me but not for the land owners

I will get some pics on over the weekend it looks nothing special but it works very well. -
I dont think this was a man made disease but it was introduced to different countries on purpose by man I know new zealand was going to let it be introduced there but when they saw how out of control it was else where they band rabbit being brought in from certain countries.

deben max pro 400 meter beam I bought mine just before they changed the batter to a lithium so they now a little more to buy I use a 12 volt 15amp instead of 7amp battery now lasts nearly all night and only cost around £30 and last about 3 years with a lot of use. I use there ir black filiter not there red one as the red one lets to much light through.
