  1. I may start flying my rt in sept but in all fairness with this warm weather it a waste of time I just do it for fun and fitness really she does not really get going until nov. and really starts in dec when it cold she works best at minus degrees. I know a chap up this way that maybe able to help norfolk and I know there was a chap in south wales he was in the ibr book about 5 years ago who may still be going both of which do very good birds. I will see if i can find any thing out and pass you the info.

    Tethered

I dont tether mine at all free lofted all year round I did tether in the first season but she did not like it and done herself more harm then good also found that she stays a little fitter and feathers much better.
  3. agree with above but I know this is not always possible as the pup gets older I would try again if the pup will not go in take the older one out and feed the younger one in there for a few days then allow the older one back in but stop the food in the kennel I had this with a jack and lab jack thought he was in charge so lab would go no where near the kennel what I said above worked with the aggregation of the jack until someone broke into them but that for another time.
  4. i not had much of this in the past but i have done frozen game and it did not work what i did find good was taking the game in hand and letting the dog take it from there saying gentle then take it straight back any sign of biting shout no and praises as soon as the dog only holds. then put it on the floor and repeat then move away and repeat then throw a foot away from you then further away until happy. I have heard of people using pigeon as if the dog not gentle the feathers will come out in the dogs mouth but this can back firer and they will not collect pigeon at all I hope some of this ma
  5. that is your view on him but it does not change the fact that there are people on here that will and do give people land to shoot on by posting this sort of post and by saying he is prepared to work in return I would say gives him a better chance then some of the other posts I have seen. I will say I may have some work coming up in the next year for possible 5 people if I get my way which means they will be paid and get to shoot at the same time but time will tell. I am not saying any more either on this work I may have coming up until it happens dont like to jinks things to much.
  6. Graham you wrong micheal bell post they do work on here I have given 4 people on this site shooting from there adds and i no of 2 other people that approached me that i could not help the numbers of farmers that needed help and they both have shooting on there. I may sound like a nice guy but 20,000 acres is enough for me. and you to for f**k sake just leave this post now micheal I would start another post in a week or so or delete this one some how as you will not get any thing from it now
  7. well i am going to have to agree with paulas on this which to date has not happened.
  8. what the mater tictac dont you get any money for shooting pest then maybe we do some thing a bit different to you or maybe we dont have as many people shooting in our areas lol
  9. I not that young but I have read my post where I said about rat killing redtail I should of explained it a bit clearer and thinking that everyone knows how untrained birds are kept for there own safety and the owners of course the bird at the time was tethered to it bow perch so would not be able to fly up on a perch would only at best be about 1ft off the floor and only be able to fly about 2 maybe 3 foot in any direction which is why rats can kill bop. yer I probably deserve some stick for that post as it reads. but I think I have proven the deer part lol
  10. im an allrounder im an allrounder is that your body type paulas you talking about as you dont seem to no much as far as a all round hunter does lol
  11. Re: Outrageous attacks Got a silly male harris that will bind to roe deer and has atempted the odd fox Re: Outrageous attacks My harris tried to take out a munkjack a few years back ...and the farm dog ..but since then not bothered with them Re: Outrageous attacks About 19 years ago, I had a small F
  12. i guess i take it to heart a little some times never mind i said my peace take it or leave it i guess
  13. millet thanks for coming forward with that but i think this paulas is a prick who think he know the whole hunting seen
  14. old enough why. as for relocating there very few places out this way that would let anyone release a fox for relocation and the ones that would i would want nothing to do with them as they are animal rescue sort of places and total against hunting of any kind and as for trophy i dont think so nothing hard in pulling a trigger on a animal.
  15. Know not really I dont like shooting cubs but I dont normally take camera with me and the owner wanted proof that I had shot them so I took pic so it could be emailed but it could have been from any where but it kept him happy.
  16. No I shot them but she has tried to take a fox in a read bed not something I would want her to do again had to run in screaming to get her to go back up or she would have tried to kill it but would of probably been injured in the process.
  17. paulas did you are you keeping bop as i thought i saw some where that you do just if you do then why are you so knowledgeable in this subject and if you dont then why the hell do you think you know every thing to do with falconry.
  18. I did not say it common I just said they can and I know of someone that lost a redtail to a rat or rats it was a night attact so the bird would of sat there until it was to late as there night sight is very bad
  19. Paulas you have not got a clue then mate if you think that the only way a rat can kill a redtail dont care what you say in they can't I know better and I guess one day if you have any you maybe unlucky enough to find out the hard way I just hope you dont. If you got bop then please ask other falconers and not the ones like yourself.
  20. dont believe that one bit......................................................................... dont believe that one bit......................................................................... Go ask a few falconers then they will all say the same sort of thing the biggest killer of birds of pray with regards to animals is a rat in the aviary we cant all be wrong
  21. at least I know it not just me then I did wonder for some time if I was imaging it. I have had muntjac and roe come in to the caller but then I sort of new they did before I got the caller.
  22. I would add one other thing to this as I dont know if your hh has worked with ferrets before and that is fly her off your fist to start with and what ever colour you are going to use I would put a rabbit in one of the holes and drag it out a few times as soon as you put the ferret in the hole this will help cement the bond of bird and ferret you should get to know over a little time if your bird sees the ferret as food she will probably bait off fist or look a bit to keen once seen out of the hole. you may no this already but just in case I have a rt that works over ferrets of any colour but
  23. yes please but to far away great offer

    help please

quite simply no you need to put just as much work in to manning a new bird as a older bird as it needs to learn to trust you although if it has been man well in the past it may speed up the process, if it was a hunting bird then it should be easier to enter in the new season for you but there are lots of people out there that will sell a bird to a novice that has not been looked after or man properly giving you a bird that you would not want to fly or keep. or causes you a injury and piss off your neighbours.
