Grabbing a rabbit out of a hole that has an excited ferret behind it scares the shit out of me ,never mind 4 snakes that have enough venom to kill the entire population of a small country.Wonder if he got the snakes back, cause not one of them had a bleeper collar on them

If your planning on keeping them together mate castration is the only answer wouldnt worry too much about lifespan as if you dont get them castrated your going to have some bad fights and maybe loose some any way.

i had mine done at Swanbridge Veterinary Hospital just over the humber bridge. I had mine done in Antrim area hosital,my left crig looked like a November turnip three days later and the wife had to buy me a Ben 10 rubber ring to sit on.Should have got a vet to do it, seems like your ferrets are up and running next day were as i had a space hopper as a left nut  Was going to get my own Hob done this year but it brings back all those old memories and i break into cold sweats In fact dont know why i read this post as ill now need therapy again to get over it

Don't think this is in the same league as your big game casualties but it was a shit one all the same.I had a smashing lurcher bitch break her neck chasing a hare a good few years back. She was stone dead by the time i raced across the field to her,not even a twitch.Seen her tumble going through some reeds on the tail of the hare but she did not get up again. I was expecting her to have hurt a leg or something so it was a bit of a shock to get to her and she was already gone.

A Few Little Outings On The Rats With Lakie
vermin catcher replied to Gkeeper111's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Nice looking wee dog there mate, and like everything else some take longer than others to master the job in hand.just keep the wee dog at them and she will get better and better.Great bit of sport to be had on the rats -
Mate believe this or not ,i was up at the place i get my tripe and beef for the dogs when i bumped into this guy who had a whippet cross dog who was also getting dog meat from the supplier .So i got talking to this sausage head and he was telling me about how good his wee dog was on the lamp ect ect and that he also kept 20 odd ferrets.I also keep working whippets and ferrets and the conversation was going well untill he dropped this fooking clanger into the mix.He says to me that his ferrets never ever kill as he snaps their teeth out with pliers!!!!! I thought he was just yanking my chain b

Mate i catch pollock all the time and i love them ,and the way i like to eat them is get some ordinary porrage oats onto a plate dip the pollock into an eggwash then the porrage oats and fry them in a pan of butter and olive oil untill golden.I realise the porrage oats thing might sound crazy but my mate is a chef and it was him told me to do it like that and believe me its delicious although at the time i thought he was yanking my chain.Mackeral are also lovely done in the oats too, gives it a nutty type of batter taste. One final point is i actually fooking hate porrage as a breakfast ,detes

Mate i know exactly what you mean with this ferret.I have kept ferrets for 30 odd years and i bred a litter last year and one jill from that litter was just not right.Exactly the same situation as yourself with this ferret,it was actively trying to take my finger off with my full arm still attached. This ferret would grab full power and shake and chew on any bit of my flesh that she could get hold of.And im not talking about a nip here! this thing was trying to do damage every time. Now we have all had the odd nip now and again with young ferrets especially out hunting but this was different and

Lads dont know if this topic has been on before but i couldnt find anything so i apologize if it has.Ive always used the grey boxes (mk 1 &2's but my mate has been using the mk3 when we have been out this season. Now ive took the plunge recently and got the new mk3m but to be honest i still prefer the old grey boxes.ive used my mates mk3 during this season even before i got my own but i still carry the greys and still find myself using them for pinpointing ferrets quicker. I dont know if its a case of stick with what you know or that im just not giving the mk3's a chance but i just cant we

Me and my mate started using the quicksets at the end of last season when out ferreting and to be honest i dont know why we wern't using them years ago.We wouldnt go ferreting now without them and they let us catch rabbits were purse nets are just not practical.Have never used a traditional so cant comment on them ,all i know is the quickset is easy to get to grips with right from the word go. not many people do the long netting here in Norn Iron as im sure you know so we had little info or anyone to show us how it was done, so the quickset for ferreting was the way to go.if you can walk back
