  5. its hard at the moment with the leaf cover like you say but it wont be long now before the leafs are gone i cant wait to get started again.... shooting them as they come in to roost is going to be your best bet.... get in the wood a hour or two befor dusk look for the trees with alot of droppings and feathers around them get your self hidden if you cant make a hide and keep all skin coverd ( hands and face) and make slow movements when taking aim
  6. i use to think the same but since living next to a large rookerie for the last 5 years ive noticed them eating carrion alot more than i expected ... if anything gets killed on the road there on it.... edit just to add theres a local dump about 2 miles away and there always on there to another reason i wouldent eat them.

  19. i think some nice character grain wenge would look great with the damascus.... one day i will get round to doing one for myself
  20. i dont do any ferreting now days but did alot in my teens we would just run them free and if they laid up we would just block the set up and return the next day with a bit of liver. 95% of the time you would get your ferret back and if you didnt there was always plenty more in the box. in those days there was no such thing as a pet ferret they was all workers meaning workers were always bred to workers and any that didnt got the spade so any ferret you got had a better chance of being a decent worker so if you lost one it was no big deal.
  21. must have shot thousands of starlings when we was kids we use to get massive flocks roosting in our local wood by the time they left the ground was 2inch thick in droppings.... now i feel guilty ,,,,, nice pics
