    Iv got a mutt here that is 10 years old and has killed plenty and not once chose a run or not to run. I must have a higher standard than some people maybe?

    People breed dogs judging personality and for pets that's fine but if you want working animals it's the wrong attitude to have. If your dog pulls up or won't chase what kind of excuses do people come up with when they are out with others? No good dog man I know would keep such animal. And if anyone on here thinks it's acceptable then please don't breed your dogs. Regarding conserve energy a dog worked few days/nights a week should be fit enough for anything thrown at it.

    I'm sorry but I want a lurcher to give its all no matter what, anything less than that is just not good enough. I don't own and hunt lurchers for them to chose what they want to run and what they dont want. If a rabbit is to close to the hedge and I don't think the dog will catch it then I don't slip, I know my dogs and what there capable of and I slip them at something knowing there is a chance to catch it and they refuse to run it then I'm sorry you have a heartless mutt no good for nothing and it's best of in a pet home or pts then battling with an animal like that. No won
