What are you planing on decoyin??
-
The last time I tried that the feckers kept lightin on the wires about 100 yards from the coys and watchin them for a while before buggerin off!! Shoot out of a layout blind now year round and try to get as far from wires and big trees as possible. The middle of the fields defiantly the spot to be. Atb Mark.

Not if you live in Ireland and cant get any components!!

They'd look good on my pan!!! -
Bought a pointer pup last year that took it. Gave it to every other dog in the pen. Passed quick enough though, didn't do them any harm. Might be a good idea to keep the dog separated from others until it passes. Atb Mark

Shot a rabbit a couple a weeks ago that had a pure bald chest and it was covered in lumps like that (a buck also). Don't no what it was but it didn't look to appetising. I threw him in the hedge, maybe I shoulda took a few photos of him and posted them up here.

Yeah I have a coal tit at the feeder every day with an all white head and I've been watching a Canada goose for the past 6 or 7 years with a white head and neck. Had him in the decoys one mornin in September a couple a years ago and I wouldn't shoot him cause I want to get him mounted and he wouldnt be half feathered. His days comin!! -
Available Grouse for duck and goose decoying anyone??
remi700 posted a topic in Shooting Opportunities
Have a couple of young dogs coming on well. 1 English pointer, 1 English setter. If I could get a few birds for them it would crown them. Anyone got abita shooting on the high ground in exchange for top quality duck and goose decoying?? Willing to travel obviously!! I dont need many birds. The harder the dogs have to work for them the better. Atb Mark. -
Would that have anything to do with the fact that they've been makin BRNO CZs for the past 50 years and have sold countless thousands of them! Not sayin that the Weinrauch is not a good rifle but theres nothin wrong with a cz.. Ive never seen a broken 1, there a real workhorse like a baikel shotgun! I got mine cut down to 14" and re crowned and threaded. Super job, Very handy in the car for abita magpie and grey crow popin. Sako finnfire is also a cracking rifle if you had money to burn!
-
That's a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel!! :D

Yeah somthin like a CZ .22lr or 17hmr will make a great starter rifle. Don't rule out other makers too. Most rimfires are capable of very accurate shooting. Atb Mark

Cover for a hide next to a duck pond

Oh maybe you call them willow?? Grow about a 2 foot a year and need almost no soil to grow. Theres a shallow sand bar in the middle a the lough where I decoy. At low water it was only an inch deep. Cut a few sally branches and stuck them in the ground on it. 3 Years later I have a perfect island to hide the boat in when I'm decoyin! -
Dog food and scatter it out well. Keeps them huntin about for another piece. The longer he's there the better chance you have a shootin him. Could be worth gettin your hands on a call too if you havnt one already. Atb Mark

Sally bushes. Just stick cuttins in the ground and they'll grow like feck! Then cut them and lay them when they get too high. Cant beat the natural thing! -
fluff chucking, fly fishing for pike.

Never seen it rust. I put a sleeve of shrink tubing over the joint about 3-4 inches so maybe this stops it from gettin chafed. I think it must be stainless wire. Atb Mark -

This is the stuff. Just give it a few twists and burn it quickly with a lighter. 1000 times better then crimped trace. I put a bit of shrink tubing over the joint afterwards and give it a little heat too. Never seen it break! http://www.fishingmegastore.com/dennett-melt-knot-wire~9511.html -

Been fly fishin pike for a good few years now. Had a 13lb from a float tube a few years back. Pulled me round the lough for about ten minutes! For making traces I use knot melt wire. Never seen it fail yet and I make my dead bait and trolling traces from the same stuff. I use clips like these for the ends of the traces ( not exactly the same ones but not far away) http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Terminal-Tackle/Swivels-Snaps-Clevises%7C/pc/104793480/c/104779980/sc/104616180/SPRO-Split-Snaps/1323156.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-terminal-tackle-swivels-snaps-clevise -
You wont go wrong with any of the top European scopes, Schmidt, Swarovski, Zeiss, Kahles. You get what you pay for with glass and its really worth while investing in a good quality scope. You should have it for life. As said before its hard to beat fixed power scopes. Cheaper and less feckin about with them when time is short! I have a 8x56 Schmidt and I've shot foxes out to 300 yards with it at night. It take seriously good glass to do that! Atb Mark

Hard to beat a block built kennel. Cow mat cut to size makes great bedding. Carpet tends to get wet and dogs lying on wood all the time tend to stink! Also if you can get a pipe rigged up to the sewer or septic tank and a hose it will make cleaning the pen real handy. Atb Mark

Scientific anglers air cells are hard to beat for the money. If you can afford it the mastery series are tremendous lines aswell. Avoid airflo's, just my opinion. Atb Mark

Anyone had a gun re-barrelled recently? Just out of interest what kinda money would it take to rebarrel a full bore? -
Have you contacted your local dog pound? Let the dogs out a couple a weeks ago, went into the garage to make their dinner, when i came back out my pointer pup and Chesapeake were nowhere to be found. spent two days looking for them, then rang the council and got through to the dog pound, that's where they were. No licence tags on them either, another couple a days and he'd a put them down. Worth a look anyway if you haven't already. Best of luck, hope he turns up. Atb Mark
