7 months for a variation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
remi700 replied to oldskoolgypsy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Took me 13 months to get an air rifle on in n. Ireland about 5 years ago but they've sped up well now. It would make you tear your hair out! -
You wont go wrong with any fabarm auto. The best autos on the market in my opinion. They never jam and are real easy to strip and clean. If you want to spend big money the xlr5 is a lovely piece of kit. If not the older h368's or euro 3's are readily available on guntrader from around £300 and give no bother at all. Second choice would be Benelli. Atb Mark

More divers to come but that's all I can be arsed paintin for now.

Been flat out trying to get things ready for the 1st. About 50 decoys painted still have a few more greylags to get finished and havn't started the canadas yet. Have the new hide boat finished as-well. Hows everyone else gettin on? Is it just me or does everyone have 1000 things to do in the last week! Best of luck for the 1st. Atb Mark

Been all go this past 3 weeks. Have the new boat finished and about 50 decoys painted so im in right shape now. Must get a few photos of the spread on the garage floor at the minute and post them up. Still have a few lag decoys to finish and a few more canadas. Few more weights to make and re-string everything and head for cartridges. When i think about it theres plenty to do. Better get back out! Atb Mark

There very early. Its a sign of a bad breeding year. When adult birds don't have to wait for there young to get wings they'll head on themselves for abundant food. Not that you really have to worry about numbers over there! I've only ever seen 3 pinks in my life and I hadn't the gun loaded, all 3 died shortly after! All greys and canadas over here. Moo do you sell shooting? If you see any big flocks tell them to head south west about 200 mile. All the best for the 1st. Mark

Dosn't work I've tried it. Waste of money. More light off a wet fag butt. Atb Mark

Could the wind be having an effect on the way the ducks are approaching the feed? If they cant get landing facing straight into the wind they'd be likely to land somewhere else and swim into the feed. Id use a few decoys close to the feed and make sure that you have a good amount of room down wind for them to land. I've never tried molasses. Atb Mark

What somethings worth and what someone pays for something can often be two different things. £8000 it would wana be some dog!!!

Where is the clamp holding the rifle? Anything clamping down on the barrel can knock a rifle off because the barrel cant move as it should when firing. Id also try different ammo and see if the problem stays the same. 55 gr Hornadays shoot best out of mine but its worth trying out a few different brands to see what works for you. Atb Mark

Others will work also. Depends if your running it off a car battery or lithium battery or belt pack. 100watt is a better job but is harder on power.

I was always told that so long as its growing its not poisonous but when its cut and ferments it becomes poisonous. Dont know if thats correct or not. Seems to be a lot of it over here this year aswell.

duck cartridges ? what size
remi700 replied to fox assasin's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
lead is still legal in the north to BOLLACKS!!!!!!!!! Not a mission. It was banned about 3 years ago over wetlands. Same system as Scotland. We can still shoot it over green feilds. -

remi700 replied to fox assasin's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Lead still legal in the south? I think it is. Depends where your shooting, open water divers and mallard 36g 5s or 6s. For flight shooting id go lighter 30 or 32g 6s or something like that will do the trick. Having said that I've shoot more flight ducks then I care to remember with Winchester trap 100s 28g 7 1/2s through a full choke. That was back in the good old days when we could still shoot lead up here. Atb Mark -
Anyone been out at the grouse yet?
remi700 replied to remi700's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
I couldn't think they've done well. The bad rain just came at the wrong time, here anyway. Do you see many in the Pennines? We get bugger all. No management and were not allowed to burn over here either. Every-things against them! -

I took the dog for a run yesterday evening but were not allowed to shoot on a Sunday. Put up 1 cock bird but that was it. I'd imagine any young there was this year have been hard hit with the weather. Anyone else been out yet? How'd you fair? Atb Mark

need tips for Salmon & Trout fishing
remi700 replied to Aodhan-Bow's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Depends on the water your fishing and the water level. You wont catch many salmon on the shrimp in a flood! As a general rule brighter condoms for dirtier water, darker condoms in lower water. In flood worms can catch well either float fished or fished with a jumping jack under a float, fished overdepth (again depends on where your fishing) Low water shrimp or bubble and fly can be deadly! As ferret features says 3" mono always works, better put your runnin shoes on though!! :D Atb Mark -
Learn to shoot with a .410 and you'll be a better shot because of it. Tight patterns and no room for error will make become you a better shot. You'll need deep pockets though!! Its up to you, it can be done though. Atb Mark

Had mine cut down to 14". Real handy for the car. think it cost me about 50 quid for cut and retread. No loss to accuracy either. You could drive nails with her! Atb Mark

Synthetic semi auto shotguns for around 1000?
remi700 replied to shotgunny's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Wouldnt go past a fabarm auto for build quality and reliability. http://www.fabarm.com/en/products-xlr-bulrush.htm -
Birchwood casey tru oil. Heres a link.
