  1. Get sorted yet? We bought 2 Redhead deluxe layouts from Gamefayre 2 seasons ago for £180 each. Don't see them advertised on it now though. Maybe if you contact them they may be still available. Best money I ever spent. Very comfortable, very warm and very easy to set up!!
  2. Is it a drake that hasn't feathered out? Did you pluck it? Many pen feathers? I shot a drake that wasn't feathered on the last week of the season. Got right up beside him. Musta been a woundey from earlier on in the season.
  3. There isn't a good sounding Gray call on the market. The old solway calls are about as good as you can get but if you want something that sounds really good you have to make it yourself. The greylag hammer is basicly built on Canada guts with the reed shortened. Makes a good enough gaggle but for high work it will stick! If you can get your hands on 1 of the yellow lohman goose calls with the long tone board you have a good start point for a lag call. You will need a thinner reed and cut it a bit narrower. All the materials are available over the internet. When you do get a good sounding call
  4. In the right hands a chessie can be a fantastic working dog but don't buy one expecting it to be as easily trained as a lab. They can have a tendency to be quite highly strung but it really stands to them when it comes to chasing a wounded duck or pulling a goose out of a think rush. Just my opinion but I don't think they can do anything a lab wont and you wont have to put as much training into the lab. I've owned both.
  5. Long rope attached to his collar. Throw the dummy shorter then the rope. Then reel him back to you with the rope take the dummy off him and give him plenty of praise. TIP When making a training lead it takes about 5 time more rope then you think it will!
  6. English pointer or English setter. I've owned a few of each of these breeds and always go back to the English pointer. Do allot of grouse work myself and couldn't find a German short haired with enough drive. One minute there quarterin fine the next minute there 6 foot behind you! Cant speak for a visla because I've never worked 1 but I certainly wouldn't have another weimerama.
  7. Muck boots are very comfortable and very warm warm for long days decoying but no grip. 4 of my friends have them aswell and they all have the same complaint. Nearly broke my neck in them last winter!! Im gona go for a good pair a boots next i think. Friend a mine has a pair of le chameu neoprene lined. He loves them. Had them for 2 seasons now and there showing no signs of wear yet.
