  1. 50gr Hornaday there deadly! Had some of the new Hornaday superformance aswell, they seem very good too.
  2. I'd disagree. I've lamped with lightforce, Deben and im sure most others down the years. Best lamp I've ever used bar none. Cyclops. Think it cost me £30 off Gamefayre. Had to wrap a piece of duck tape round the outside of the filter to stop stray light and changed over the coiley lead for a piece of plain cable (just my preference). Great light with a great lens. Shoot foxes over 300 yards at night with it. The lens makes the light. Pay no attention to candle power. ATB. Mark
  3. That amount exactly! Seems a pretty direct hit. Right in the center of the pattern.
  4. Well done, sounds like he'll come good in the end. If i were you the next thing i would do would be to start working on steadyness. Make him sit, throw the dummey and go get yourself. Some professional trainers say to only let the dog retrieve 1 in 10 dummies thrown but i think this depends on each individual dogs willingness to retrieve. See how long you can keep doing it without the dog getting fed up and breaking, then give him a few less next time. Steadyness is the key to all retriever training. Theres no reason he wont make a good gundog, just keep working on him.ATB. Mark
  5. If you blow that it will clear a field of rabbits in seconds!! Its for calling foxes and other carnivores. Sometimes works for magpies and grey crows also. I use predator calls all the time. Used right they can draw a fox from a long way. ATB. Mark
  6. It seems alot of different ailments give the same symptoms as that. My first guess was parvo but then I read through the other comments. Had a setter bitch pup that showed those symptoms exactly. Brought her to the vet and she tested her for parvo. Tested positive and spent the next week in the vets on a drip. Thankfully she pulled through and shes back on top form again. I hope your bitch does the same. All the best Mark.
  7. Jesus nichard im sore laughin at that post!!! That's brilliant. One born every minute!lol
  8. Have a 22-250 and my friend has a .223. Love the 22-250 very flat round. Was abit muzzle flipey when I got it but put a silencer on it now and it shoots real sweet! As for the friends .223 shes real accurate too but hes too tight to buy v-max for it and insists on shooting soft nose rounds. I've shoot a few definite rib busters with it that run on. I shoot soft nose from the 250 at the start also and didn't have the same problem. Id imagine V-max from the .223 would give you no problems. I wouldn't like to be hit with one anyway!! ATB Mark.
  9. Its expensive enough to be good anyway. I bought a set of cabelas dri-fowl bibs in the middle of last season and there brilliant. I get a bad back easily and they really help to keep it warm. If you've never had bibs id recommend them. Layer up well, Base layer, fleece, bibs and coat and a good hat.ATB Mark.
  10. Fitted with a silencer there still quite a bit louder then a .22 with sub-sonics but there not to bad. Anythin that breaks the sound barrier will give off a crack but thats all you get with the .17hmr. No big boom like a full bore.ATB Mark
  11. Wow this amazes me. No takers for eley subsonics? Everyone shoots them over here. Great grouping from my BRNO. Wouldn't thank you for Winchester! Tried a box of those cci segmented and got great kills but I don't think they group as-well. I'm stickin to my eleys!
  12. Try medical rubber gloves under any thin gloves you can shoot in. The macwet shooting gloves are very comfortable to wear and nice and thin. Because the rubber gloves dont breath like cotton the heat from your hands builds up well. Hope this helps. Mark.
  13. If your gona shoot rabbits and wana eat them your gona have to head shoot because you'll get quite a bit of meat damage with the hmr. Other then that there a very capable little gun and punch well above there weight. Had 1 for a couple of seasons and shoot dozens of foxes with it not to mention rabbits and crows. Eventually changed to a 22.250 and got a .22 rimfire on for the bunneys. They can be a real tack driver on calm days but they are easily effected by wind due to the light weight tip. Just depends on what you want to shoot. Hope this helps you decide. Mark
  14. Anyone got one to gift? Id love one to mount if you have. Thanks Mark.
  15. Cz .22 rimfire. You wont beat it! You should be able to pick 1 up for alot less then a good precharged air rifle. Just my opinion.
  16. .22 rimfire would be my preferance for bunny shootin mainly because the ammos cheap but you will get ricochets which can be dangerous. .17hmr is a good round for rabbits aswell but if you intend on eating them or selling them you'll have to head shoot because you'll get alot of meat damage on the plus side you wont have ricochets like the .22. The .17hmr is also a very versatile round and is easily capable of fox shooting out to 100yards.
  17. Id imagine so. Must have swallowed pounds of the stuff down the years. Still as fit as a flea. Dont believe everything you hear about lead shot!!
  18. Was one a them in my local gun shop. Through it up, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Nice gun!
  19. Doesn't make any odds either way. Shot everythin from 26" to 32" on an auto which is really long. No difference in killin power regardless of range in my eyes. Put the right address on it and he's yours!! The yanks are big into using short barrels because there mostly firin steel through them. If you intend to fire steel you would be at an advantage with shorter barrels. Have to try somthin to get the shite to spread!!! ATB Mark
  20. If you want my opinion none of them are worth a shite! BASC are just as bad but they charge you more money for bein just as useless! When it comes to eatin big dinners with politicians they seem to be pretty good at that but when they have to do somthin for them that pay there wages none of them want to know. Friend a mine had his guns lifted by the police through no fault of his own. Rang the then head of BASC Northern Ireland to see how he could go about getting them back. He was asked "What do you want me to do about it!" He told him he was never goin back to them again. The only reason I
  21. I have nothing but good things to say about fabarms. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable auto. 4 of my friends have them aswell and haven't had a single problem between us. The new xlr5 is a cracking piece of kit but for a cheap reliable gun if you can get your hands on a h368 you wont buy better. I've never lifted a berretta auto that I liked but each to there own. Had an old 1400 winchester years ago. It was a grand gun but needed regular cleaning or it would jam.
  22. Haven't actually blown a flextone version but I asume there similar to other 6-1 whistles. For pintails flutter your tongue in a short burst. For teal just a short pip. Mallard drake will take some practice but the air comes from your throat. Hard to explain but you make a sorta whhhooooooo with your throat. The widgeon they speak of is the american widgeon which makes a different sound to the European widgeon. Don't no what a quail sounds like but id imagine you'd be a long time callin before one would turn up. Certainly wouldn't give up with it. A useful call to have with you for teal and pi
  23. Seen some new jack pyke boots the other day on the internet. They looked the business. Seen alota people slagin there stuff off on here but a friend a mine bought waterproof trousers a there's and he loves them. Id like to try a pair on and see what I think. Unfortunately that's a job for the game fairs in the summer and I need them now!
  24. Hi, I'm looking for a new pair of boots. Thinking of a pair of Crispi steggs. Can get them for £199 on uttings. Anyone have any experience with them. I know they won a shooting industry award but would like some feedback from people who have actually wore them! Can get Meindl dovre extremes for similar money so haven't ruled them out either. Any views?? Thanks in advance. Mark.
  25. Personally id pluck them! 50 mins in the oven covered at 130 degrees. If I breast anythin I slice it real fine, Slice an onion fine and fry it low heat until clear. Add a little garlic. Slice of bacon cut into small strips. Fry until bacon is almost cooked. Add the duck and put in two slices of toast in the toaster. When the toast pops take the duck off the heat. butter toast and spread your duck over it. ENJOY!!
