  1. A man after me own heart!! Have to agree with you there lab but id imagine your gona get slaughtered for that comment!!
  2. Mate of mine had an over and under and it done alot of work and never gave much bother. Then I bought a Lanber auto. Piece of shite!! It was broke more often then it was goin. I traded it in for a new fabarm in the end.
  3. Doesn't matter what call you use if a fox gets the wrong side of the wind to you, you wont shoot it or call it ever again!! I always carry a few calls. Start with polystyrene on wet glass or a squeak on the back of your hand. This accounts for about 70% of the foxes we shoot. Then I have a Flextone and a Jonny Stewert the old 1 with the metal reed. I never blow these calls unless I see nothing with the polystyrene first. If you call your cubs with polystyrene and 3 come in at once and you only get 2 at least then you have a better sounding call to fool the educated one with latter. Working out
  4. Depends alot on the age of the dog aswell. My last bitch stayed in great shape winter and summer didn't matter what I fed her. Then when she got to about 6 she started to put on weight in the summer, didn't matter how little food she got she stayed in the same shape. Even when she had the weight on it didn't stop her workin! 15-20 water retrieves at ducks and geese no bother.
  5. Can you not screw the top off them?? If you cant I think put it up the field and shoot it with the 22-250. Use the hole for the chimney or lettin air in the front! Mite make 1 for the boat hide. Great idea thanks!
  6. The yanks can shoot them with bow and arrows! Ok maybe not reds but it would be a tough animal you wouldn't kill using any centrefire rifle and good shot placement. Atb Mark
  7. Shooting Remington 700 this past 5 years or so with no complaints as yet but also worth mentioning my friend shoots a Howa 1500 with a houge stock and its a lovely rifle. Good value, plenty accurate and nice trigger. Atb Mark
  8. You wont need it for the deer. Could be usefull for foxes at long range. Mines not illuminated and i shoot a lot of foxes and it does me well but sometimes i need to put white light on very long range ones to see the cross hairs. Atb Mark
  9. Wouldnt suprise me. I've seen bitches do strange things when they come in heat. Im sure she'll be fine when she gos out again.
  10. When fishing buzzers a VERY slow retrieve is used. So slow that unless your in a big depth of water, when fishing a floater by the time youve got the line in you'll be close to if not touching the bottom. Hope this makes sense. A buzzer is an imatation of a midge pupa before hatching. Different colours work well at different times of the year and on different lakes but this early on blacks are most commonly used because they can be a good imatater for duck fly (especially if tied with 2 white wings back over the thorax). Greens will work well later on. Usually when buzzers are hatching well yo
  11. Any idea how shipping would work?? I might be intrested in those 4's.Atb Mark
  12. Id be fully against giving my money to any organisation who supported a ban on lead shot. BASC are usless!!!! Ive heard good things about sacs also.
  13. No doubt if you put a hp in the right spot it will kill a fox but id stick with the v-max everytime, so much safer because they stop in the fox. You will also get better kills. I shoot 50 and 55gr hornaday tips and they work great for me. Used to shoot Soft points and they done the job for a good while but i had a few foxes walk on with the guts out so i changed to v-max.Atb Mark
  14. Wouldnt take a berreta if it was give to me. Theres no doubt there well built but ive never lifted 1 that i liked JMO. Beneli or fabarm for me. Been shootin a fabarm now for about 3 years and i havnt had an uncycled shell yet. My local gun dealer says hes sold about 40 new fabarms in the past few years and hasnt had 1 back with a problem yet!
  15. If your fishing a river id stick with the Flying c's. Different wieghts for different depths of water. The rollo 1's with the chrome bodys seem to work well too. Rapelas are hard to cast and difficult to set the hooks in salmon. If you do fish them for salmon you have to leave slack line as you would when fishing the flys to allow the fish to hook himself.Atb mark
  16. Turn the stereo down would be the simple answer!
  17. Great job but as paulus says they wont replace a proper cleaning. Use one on the shotgun too. Works very well if the guns still warm, at the end of a nights clay shootin etc. Too clean put it inside a sock with plenty of fairy liquid and put it in the washin machine.Atb Mark
  18. Seen eggs on ebay a couple a weeks ago. £10 a piece. I was thinkin a rearin a few for capes but a tenner an eggs abit steep! By the time theyd be posted over here id say youd be luckey to get 1 from 4 eggs and then it would almost certainly be a hen!
  19. Im sure they wont do her any harm but i wouldnt fire them through anythin tighter then half choke. Autos are fairly forgiving because they can vent the gas through the chamber. I know a local firearms dealer who had a box of random shells from boxes that got toren in the shop. He took them out to shoot a few clays one day, didnt realise it but there was 20ga shells in the box aswell. Put 1 down the 12 auto, went to shoot the clay and she didnt go off. He opened the chamber and there was no shell in her so cycled the next one up not realisin that the 20 was wedged halfway down the barrel. Calle
  20. I think fabarm do left hand autos. Well worth a look. Should get 1 abit cheaper then a benneli. Ultra reliable, few of us have them round here and ive never seen a single problem with one from the lightest trap loads to the heaviest goose shells they never stick!! Come with shims for the stock so you can take out or add what you want to get the cast right for yourself.Atb Mark.
  21. What do you want to fish it for? Some huge silver eels go down it if your there at the right time of the year.
  22. Ever wonder why he dosnt shoot?? Nobody in there [bANNED TEXT] mind would give that gobshite a gun!! Now i havnt tried eatin a fox but i can just imagine what it would taste like. Theres wiser eatin grass!!
  23. Natural is always best no matter what your trying to hide from. If you can get your hands on burlap its very good (cabelas sell it but im not sure if anyone over here sells it). Not shiney and very dense so you cant see through it then cut a few branches and use whatever foliage is handy to blend in to the suroundings. If you cant get burlap a good net will do the job. Personally i wouldnt buy a pop up hide because i cant think of anywhere id put 1 that it would blend in. Also any ive seen shines like mad, youd have to mud them up to get rid of that.Atb Mark
  24. Shooting times ran an article on this very subject just a few months ago. Heres a link. Atb Mark http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/guns/121761/Sound_moderators_for_22_rimfires.html
  25. Have about 50 old mallard decoys that we painted up for divers this last few years but there very difficult to get paint to stick to. Kept having to repaint them at the start of every season. Worked well but they were alot of work to keep right. Found a website selling large quantities of flocking and adhesive and was thinking of ordering enough to do the divers and maybe a few dozen canada heads. Anyone got any experiance working with it? How long would it last in the water? Does it flake? These are my main concerns as i know it looks great when its on. ATB Mark http://www.flocking.biz/
