I used to own a deerhound whippet x years ago,she was a very good hare bitch,but would,nt look at a for till well into her fifth year,and by then she had mastered the knack of picking them up without getting that badly bitten,most of the first crosses of deerhound are very good coursers and once they start they are demons for fox,i will root up a picture of the bitch i used to have..
  2. Hi Fellow hunters. My name is Derek, i only joined today,i would be classed as a lurcherman and terrierman in this sport,i keep a couple of lurchers [mostly for hare,fox and a few rabbits]i love to get out with my lurchers into the open countryside and see them doing what they are bred to do,nothing like watching a lurcher coursing a hare on its own terrority,hunt up,course and kill,[if he is lucky enough] and then retrieve it back to hand, and then on a good dark windy night get out with a dog for a spot of lamping,[nothing as good as a nights lamping, i also keep a couple of terrie
