there is some good advice from blackmaggie and j dog. try to stay away from bunnies for now, if she runs any they will probably escape and she will get frustrated and lose confidence. she may end up yapping at them, or she may end up not bothering at all as she knows she can't catch them, and will stay this way even when she is an adult

if you dont mind me asking what particular challenges did this dog throw at you? and what was your solution? i'm just trying to learn from someone else's difficult one!!!

and do you know what even if the problem required more than just a little bit of effort, even if it turned into a whole big shitfight to sort it out, a proper dog man/woman would still persevere. the difficult dogs are the ones that you learn from!!!

if she is chewing shoes and stuff just take hold of them and tell her "no" in a calm firm voice and hold the item still and she will soon let go. then straight away get her to do something you can praise her for like "sit". and make sure she has enough toys of her own to chew

yeah the pups are awful, that bitch looks shot at as well

used to get it every week back in the 80s, looked forward to walking round to the corner shop to pick it up. very different now i havent bought a copy for years but i flick through theclassifieds if theres a copy left in the shop

5 months.........lucky the little mite didn't grab it, probably would have bitten the pup pretty bad. its still a baby!!! be patient!!

a common mistake is to get the rabbit off the dog as quick as possible. remember that the biggest thrill any dog can get is to get his mouth round his prey so if you then grab it quickly you are the one responsible for spoiling his fun. practice with skins, dummies etc and shot game over the summer and whilst you are retraining dont let him hunt for himself or you will not break the habit. what you need to do is to let him keep hold of the bunny when he brings it to you and just stroke and praise him while he holds it. you can hold it at the same time and then give it back, or throw it for him

just work on your bond with the pup and taining through the summer and get it into some gradual work come autumn. there is no rush, you could easily ruin that pup if you push it too young -
ok at the risk of ridicule, in all the years i've had dogs I've never learned to use a skin stapler. have always just gone to the vet. whats the best way to learn, can i simply copy what i have seen the vet doing, or are the vets doing subtle things which perhaps i'm n ot noticing? does anybody run courses or anything?

theres a lot of good advice here, just work on your bond and on obedience until the autumn, yes there is a chance he won't make the grade but only if you keep trying to get him to do stuff before he's ready!!!! give him time and he will be fine

don't worry about that, she will learn to go off on her own as she gets more confidence. if she is hanging back a bit when you call her its probably because she has been grabbed and stuck on the lead or even worse told off when she came back. try crouching down, or try running away in a playful manner. make it a game. and when she does come, praise her or give her a little treat and let her go again. do this several times each walk, don't just call her when she is going on the lead or she thinks its the end of the fun. or put her on the lead for a couple of minutes and take it off again, an d

i remember hearing of this dog some years ago and apparently she was very good, but i never saw her myself. think she beat a bitch called anna which was pretty damn good (i think anna belonged to a chap called brown?)

if you freeze the meat it should be worm-free. i do mine every six months unless i see worms in the stool

thank you all for your information, i will pass this stuff on to the lad i know. than he can at least make some sort of informed decision. deerhounds are not really my thing 9had a purebred a few years ago but it was crap) but there are certainly some nice looking dogs on here

no food plenty of water until it stops then cooked meat. if it goes on more than 48 hours or if the dog gets dehydrated get to the vet

Maybe you need to have a look at a map. . . it's only one, or maximum two countrys you need to drive across. Oh, if you are sailing from spain yes but i thought the question was driving? cos then you would have to go all the way through turkey etc. even then i'm assuming you would take the channel tunnel and not the ferry to france................

coupleof problems. 1. its damn hard to get any kind of greencard to ship out to the states on any kind of permanent basis 2. its damn hard to drive to africa, loads of border crossings and visas and all that stuff 3. it would be impossible to take dogs or firearms because of quarantine laws to bring the dogs back and because of the red tape shipping guns overseas and even more to get them home again! 4. to go on any kind of long distance driving tour would mean time off work, and most of us just can't afford that, we're really scratching about here 5. the cost of going on any kind of orga
