  1. Nice bitch there mate, she looks bigger than my 10 month Springer!!
  2. I'll be working on the basis that treating it as a pet and letting it know it's boundaries will instill a sense of loyalty and protection into it. It doesn't have to be perfect, if someone hears it bark or even sees it, that'll soon make them think twice without it having to put any work in.
  3. Cheers for the suggestions Simoman. I'd prefer a Rottie or Shepherd anyway. Just don't want to rush out to buy one, have the money here but i'll wait to find a pup of good quality stock. Everyone is over 20 in our house BUT we have young relatives visiting often so that is paramount. I wasn't born here lads so i can vouch for the majority of it being a shithole. Our area isn't bad.
  4. Hi everyone, We live in a good part of Hartlepool but recently there's been quite a lot of crime and other associated madness in the area. Lead thieves, kids kicking about, vehicles nicked from the building sites and a spate of burglaries as people think it's a rich area..they're mistaken! Behind our house is an unlit dirt walkway used by all manner of people some innocent some not. Just before Christmas, my dad, brother and I chased lead thieves from next doors garden, and there's been other instances where people have been having a nosy and been chased off with a maglite. We've i
  5. I'd be f*****g fuming if this happened to me. With having Springers i'm fine but if i ever went into Lurchers etc and i got accused i would fight tooth and nail before they could even take the dogs from me. Glad you got it sorted and a 'happy' outcome, i'd sue the fuckers for every penny!! It's like that programme on BBC last night, taking the dogs to a 'secret location'. I'd find out where they were kept and break them out. Can't be doing with so called charities getting their noses into my business.
  6. Just leave him be, mine cried for the first two days then shut up. He then cried for 2 weeks after the bitch had been because he could still smell her!!! Ruby never cried because she had Tex to lay with so it was all good.
  7. I had a similar problem with my Springer, he cut his ear on barbed wire. Unfortunately no matter what we tried it would not stop bleeding, from vaseline to taping and bandaging. Took him to the vets who shaved the affected area and whacked another bandage on. Went back two days later, the vet took the bandage off and Tex shook his head...blood flew everywhere, up the walls, the doors and on the vet. Not ideal! Had to have an op to cauterise the area and he's got a chunk missing (not that you can tell through his fur). Hope you got it sorted mate.
  8. Looking good, keep up the hard work!
  9. Hello everyone, stumbled across this forum on the internet so thought i'd join in. I'm from the North of England and i've been into clays and rough shooting for a good few years now. I'm also partial to getting the air rifle out every now and then and going after the local rat population. The most important aspect of our sport to me is the working of dogs. It was decided five years ago that we should get ourselves a gundog, and after deliberation between Labradors, Springers, Cockers and Pointers we settled on Springer Spaniels, and bought Tex. Tex is brilliant, showed potential when he wa
