  1. This is the tightest group i have managed with 55g bullets, was new privi brass so am happy with that.
  2. Just to let you know i loaded some up and have just tried them will post a pic here later.
  3. Well i cant argue with your education but phraseology is not the point and if you will forgive me i will still give the term destabilsation because i think it is a good description of something that becomes unstable!. and i bow my head to your knowledge of this subject but i completely disagree that the C of P is irrelevent. and i agree that there will be some effect but i can still disprove Transoic infulence in practice far easier than anyone can prove the theory in practice. as i mentioned i have already done it on the range and british army marksmen will also diprove it on a regular basis.
  4. just been reading something similar to this this subject which sort of backs me up but also backs transonic destailistion up too. it gets very complicated the further you dig in and the truth seems to be that no one knows for sure just what does happen, i still recon that for our purposes transonic destabilisation is negligable, even in a .22lr. look up Mike larsen he worked at ATK for a while not sure what he is doing now but he knows his stuff, Hisham Halawi this guy knows every thing there is to know a bout balistics, he was a sniper master and Bryan Litz, who i have just been reading.
  5. i have explained that before i seem to remember, and yes stability is the problem which is caused by the CP moving. to make it real simple the effect is like jamming the front brake of your bike on, the back end wants to over take the front. i seem to remember explaining about diff air speeds at diff points of a projectile, i think i was told i was talking bollocks. It may be worth looking up what laupa have done in their tests. we can go on about it for ever and still disagree as their is no way of proving it either way, saying that i would find it easier on the range to disprove it than you
  6. Lapua have done a good bit of work that is, I believe in the public domain. There is a lot of material that both the UK and US Governments have however, unfortunately it is not in the public domain. Doppler is also useful in matching Magnus effect theory and practical in long range work. Helps to marry up the 'comeup' charts. will have to have a look at that lot sounds interesting, i get sadder as i get older!!!!.
  7. Ok taking your post at face value, and being the kind of nice chap that iam here it is in brief: Very little evidence exists to sugest that a bullet, not any projectile, a bullet is effected by influences it encounters during the transonic phase of flight, it is well known that the C of G and C of P change and the increase in BC, can have a destabilising effect, but to what degree? do your bullets tumble into the target? No they dont this is because of rotation which stabilizes bullets in flight, this is complicated by speed of rotation to weight but most people know what range of bullet weig
  8. Yes 338LM i think you are right, to a degree about the transonic effect. not sure how much has been done with doppler, have read the easily available stuff but not much more. I know that the main ammo manufacturers, CCI and Federal Give very little thought to transonics as they dont think it has a relivent affect !. a theory i agree with.
  9. Its the Transonic bit that is misunderstood by most people who think it is a constant destabilising effect that occurs during the deselaration of a projectile. this is not so. people look things like that up on Wiki and either misunderstand what it says or fail to understand the diferences between theory and proven fact. But yes i agree about the odd subsonic going a bit too quick.
  10. Quality ammo less so than some. The MPI can change quite considerbly with the change in velocity, bullets rattling around the transonic stage are not the most accurate. really!!!!
  11. Its not possible that it is the mod. as the mod has no dynamic state unless it is not fitting the thread properly so every time you shoot the mod will do the same job. i have had rounds clipping a mod before but the dealer just changed the mod.
  12. Not the cheapest i have seen looks nice though. 15 euro for a Rabbit!!!
  13. thanks for that lads, very reasuring.
  14. keep it cheap for me i once broke a grands worth of scope so i only buy cheap now i have a leapers on at the moment only had it a few months it replaced a broken Hawke reflex. i use a reflex on the 223 aswell, cheap i know but i dont have to worry about them when iam out.
  15. Wish it was as simple as that, encountering bunnies at a known distance every time!!!!!.
  16. Well i have it abot a week now, have had a good look over it and it all seems ok flash holes are fine sizes are all very good, trimmed the cases to my nornmal length, will just have to see how long it lasts.
  17. That's told me then eh? I honestly thought this forum was better than that. well it did start off that way lol.noticed someone said that they worked out the first zero at 12yrd and second at 75, that will depend on barrel lenght scope height and most importantly ammo. Also noticed a general dislike of HV ammo, Its all relative depends on the requirements, and HV ammo shoots far better with the moderator off.
  18. 75 is a handy range to zero at you just have to remember it when your shooting close in as the first zero is about 15yrds and the round will be about 1.5" high at around 40yrds but most importantly it will only be 6" low at 100yrds or there abouts
  19. i wish i was good enough to zero a 22lr at 100yrds. but 75 is my limit to get a group.
  20. i brought an escort last year to replace a beretta 301 and i think the escort is lighter recoil but the 301 was an old boy. problem with the escort is that they dont like short carts, well mine anyway wont cycle them i only use 67mm now and they work great. had a benelli for a while but it was a pile of crap.
  21. well i aim to please!!. but not sure about the use of enjoy in that statement? yes your right i do bite sometimes but iam getting better at ignoring things!. I have been around firearms for a long time and have met and spent time with some very inspiring and sometimes strange but commited people that have helped me out alot over the years, it taught me to always listen and disprove before you disregard.
  22. no it didnt,! but what we did was very different we needed to disipate energy very quickly, within 20yrds. sarcasum if thats how you spell it is wasted on me iam affraid, it just makes the user look rather silly.
