As above, that's what i use on my CZ Varmint , and to be honest, i can't really imagine anything being much quietier when using subsonic ammo I used to have a Parker Hale on mine but they are a bit heavy so i brought a sako for about £50 i am not sure if it is any quieter but it is alot lighter and it doesnt strip so there is no bother relining the baffles after a clean, you just dont clean it!!!. Had it for about 4 years and it is none the worse for wear so i am happy.

cutting a lump of me barrel!
richmcgin replied to richmcgin's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
hey mate thats a good idea iam going to buy one tonight. cheers for that -
I own up to being lazy and for the past couple of years i have not been taking the mod off my sako 223 after use. the tread is now very corroded but usable and i can only imagine what the inside of the barrl is like. with all that said it still shoots great groups. I was thinking of having a couple of inches whipped off the pointed end and re-threaded. so my question is what would you guys do, i know it still shoots well but i also know the tread is in bad shape and the barrel is proberly pitted.??? the barrel lenght is 22" with a 1:12 twist.

you dont put anything on your own ticket just notify the firearms authority, next time they have your cert in they will take the shotgun off.

iam not sure if the consistancy changes all that much from brand to brand but alot of people swear by the eley subs, ithink that cci make most of the big name brands ammo but eley i think make their own.
-
the CCI subs wont chamber in my 452, but that is only since they changed them from the 36g copper washed, i had a remington that they wouldnt go in aswell so i changed them to rws and winnies. at 100yrds you cant expect too much. I zero at 75yrd and have taken rabbits way past that but shooting at a target at 100yrd is always disapointing, at that range the little 22 is affected by so much that you will be lucky to get a pleasing result. you want consistancy at 50yrds and good hits at 75yrds then at 100yrds you need to expect the group to open out to at least and inch and half. as for the cons

have just looked them up nice looking gun but it has a 1:16 twist on a 21" barrel so thats about 1 1/4 turns, be careful about the weight of bullet you pick i would try 40g or lighter first.

Ugly bear i would be interested in one for my 223 if the price is right the sound moderation would need to match the Pez and the weight would have to be less than a range rover!.
-
it was a spair sort of, brought it for my son but he never uses it, also sold a ruger.17 rimmy for 200 and a remington .17cf for 150, have had a proper clean out over the last few weeks and made a load of room for new stuff!!.

Scope mounted lightforce 170 switch problem
richmcgin replied to SUNDAYBAIN's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
i have had this i emailed light force and they sent me a new lamp, well ruag did. -
its a bit of a shame i have just sold a 2 year old american in as new condition in the box with all the paper work, moderator, scope and sling for £250

Go for the CZ, ok they are a little more expensive but they are good i have had my shiloute since they first came out and have had no problems at all great guns buy one.
-
now then here i may be able to help, the v-shoc are a fantastic round if your rifle likes them, they are designed to shoot 1 moa groups but the nosler bt is a funny round it has a good bit of bearing surface and will not stabilize properly in slower rifling. now i have tried them in 50g 223 and they are not to good in my 1/12 twist, federal recon that the bullet is to long for 1/12 twist at that weight. so you realy have to select the right weight bullet for your twist, which will not always be the normal weight you would expect to be able to use. i have messed with the nosler bt bullet in fro

think you will find that it will be heavy most american rifles are because of the claim culture over there. I dont think they have an adjustable trigger but you can always have it polished or just fit an aftermarket unit.

Thumbs up for that not many of us about any more mate.

Normally i will always check zero after a clean with one fouling round before i start, but i dont clean then as much as some people. i hate the job, last cleaned my 17 about 3 years ago but in all honesty its only had one or two shots though it in that time, my 22 gets a clean after about 100 rounds and the 223 about every 20. the 223 heats up quick so i try and use 2 shots to zero but it can be a pain when testing new loads, after 10/12 shots the groups start to open out so i like to test with 3 shot groups when possible.

Powder burners! Fred Dibnah is alive and well aye Dunc!!.

your always best to zero your rifle to a comfortable range for your ability. dont bother with the HV, just practice the long shots with the subs. zeroing at 20yrds is no good if you intend to shoot further out. zero at 50yrds it takes the guess work out of shooting out further, i know it seems easy to just zero at 20 cos its closer and easier but its not an air rifle,!!!

would fully agree with Sporting shooter here, dont dig yourself a hole and dont tell any lies just dont mention anything that may cause you a problem. A firearm cert carries with it a requirement to act responsibly and within the law, in all things ie, get done for drink driving and loose your certificate!.

Have just measured the groups, the first group is 0.175 and the second is 0.193. not to bad for a 20 year old rifle with an idiot behind it !!!.
-
this was the second group the first was 5 shot, one fouling round as i cleaned the barrel within an inch of its life at the weekend the next 3 where in the same hole possibly a little smaller than this, then the fifth was after an adjustment to bring the group onto the coss hair but to be honest the cross hair covered a good bit of the target. i have not measured the group size yet.
