  1. Rake aboot you are a pilock i have never said i can do that group at that range i think you may find that that the original post sugested that 22 lr is hopeless after 80yrds or something along those lines, i have never suggested that i can shoot that group, its not something that interests me, but i do know that i can shoot rabbits way past 100yrd consistanly, the post of mine that was in question was trying to convince someone that they would be surprised how well they can shoot with a bit of practice and yes i think those that can can and those that cant cant. i doubt if i could get a 1" g
  2. rich, you're talking bollocks. A group is just a collection of individual shots. I don't shoot groups, I treat each shot individually. If I have the same point of aim on each shot, but the point of impact is different, then my group will be a large one. Now, if I'm lucky and the shot I take at a rabbit happens to be one of the "good" ones then the result is one dead rabbit. However, if I'm unlucky and the bullet fired at the rabbit is one of the bad ones then I will at best miss completely, and at worst wound the animal I'm shooting at. A group is a good indicator of th
  3. it the wrong time of year for calling, i find it can very ofern send them in the other direction. the best caller i have is an original fox call its two bits of black plastic with a strip of thin metal between. but the hand is far better. if your going to call at this time of year its best in the early morning.
  4. I remember reading in one of the airgun rags years back about some aussie guy head shooting rabbits at about 120 odd yards with a 20fpe bsa pcp. For out and out precision, i think pcp's beat rimmies in the consistency stakes. thats new ok, but i have heard so many people talking about deflection, pellet problems and general problems with high powered air rifles think u may have a hard time trying to float that brick
  5. ho hum getting fed up with this now, its going round in circles and no ones saying anything new or interesting.
  6. Sorry stubby thats me acting the twat again, me brain failed to hold the required info for long enough!!!.
  7. Kenny 14 are you shooting for protection of your livelyhood, if not and like me you do it for no reward and respond to the calls from land owner to protect their livelyhood then you do it for the sport. a lot of good relivent views on the subject have been aired and it is easy to see both sides of the subject, i still hold a view that it is different for sport shooters than it is those that do it for a living, I know that i cant ignor the farmers call if i want to keep the land and i just hope its not a nursing vixen that i have to deal with, and fortunately for me for last few years it hasnt
  8. Excuses excuses your just a shit shot ! f**k it iave been sussed.Tegater I know what your saying but each of us has there own moral set, i think that this arguemnet go go on and on but iam not going to enter in to that, but if any of you think that it can carry on like it is forever your wrong look at the ban, who ever thought that would happen back in the 80s. or in the 60s did you think the badger would get protection ???. we need to guard what we have or it will be gone.
  9. you would be surprised how much of a chance they do have even when the cross hair is on them, i could give you many accounts of times when i thought i had a fox bang to rights but the variables stacked up and the fox won the day. but i totaly agree about the wrong ammo and wrong distance which in my opinion means wrong shooter. with all that said i think it much more humane to shoot a fox dead than chase it round the countryside for hours on end.
  10. Stubby if the birds are in an area where food is prepaired you need to stay well clear my ol mate if not then you will need to provide a risk assessment and a method statement. only the risk assessment is a legal requirement but it will need to be prepaired by a competent person who has suitable training and will need to address bio hazard as well as all the normal stuff. if you need any help with this drop me a line i may be able to help. you will also need third part liability insurance, however if you are being employed to carry out the task you may be covered by the employers insurances.
  11. Sure there are plenty of people out there that shoot foxes as part of their daily duty, but there more that shoot for sport, alot of people will try and say they dont shoot them for sport and that they do it as vermin control but in reality thats not the case, i shoot for sport, sure i get calls to deal with problemed animals but i do it out of choice because i enjoy the hunt, if i dont do it there are plenty of others that will. and most of them will be doing it for the same reasons as me. and its the increase of shot foxes since the hunting ban that concerns me. Make no mistake i give no qu
  12. Macky i think this is a question that i ask myself every year, in previous years i have been a part of management programes that culled out selected animals unless there where problemed foxes that needed to be taken care of, but since the hunt ban, that has all but gone out of the window, i try my best not kill vixens until about june and would like to say i dont touch the cubs till next year but it is not always the case, personaly i think that there should be a short closed season but i think that would be counter productive and would be a step toward protection a kin to the badger situation
  13. When i test ammo or zero a rifle i shoot of the harris on a bench and iam seated for me it is important to know the zero is right, i know this situation does not relate back to a hunting situation but i always know the scope is on and a miss is down to me, i do have some targets on here somewhere that show 100 and 150 3 shot groups i agree that a better indication as to group will come from a 5 shot group but i always do 3 shots and to be honest although it nice to get a good group iam not too bothered iam more concerned with where the first shot goes. I have no doubt that you can shoot 22 bet
  14. trappa mate you dont have to prove anything to anyone, you know what you have done and that is good enough, we have no reason to say other wise. Well done on the long shot not many have the confidence to takle a shot of that range. long live the brave !!!.
  15. your missing the point my ol mate as i said before i cant play a flute so it must be impossible, I have only tried to group HV at 100yrd plus and they do ok, i think the main problem is that the playground bullies dont like to think that the other kids are having fun. If you know what i mean
  16. well done trappa, you should lookin to the rifles forum there is a thead running at the moment and long shots is the theame you might be interested, but do be prepaired for the doubters aye Dunc!.
  17. I used angle iron for mine and a few bolts took a good 30 mins to build!!.
  18. I wasnt sure that , that posting actualy got read as it seemed to disapear when the site went down, its not your opinon that causes the problems its the way you act like a school boy and join in on the side of the bullies as soon as they arrive, i didnt put up with it at school and i am not going to now, so if you act like a cock expect to get called it mate. I shoot a CZ shiloutte that is bog standard apart from i had the trigger played with when new but to be honest it didnt seem to make any difference just a bit of a waste of money!!. I dont profess to shot tight groups with it at any di
  19. thats saved me a job the one in the picture in the above posting is exactly the same as mine but i made mine for a good bit less (think this guy must have seen mine!!!!)
