  1. Well dunc I keep my 22 zeroed to 75 as I find it the most useful zero range. And I shoot a lot of bunnies at about 120 my record is 160 and I have a 150 on vid but 100 is an average range round here. I agree that a good shot will do ok at 200 with a 17 but my thought would be that it would be an exception to do consistently well at that range and not something that your average bod. Could do without loads of trigger time
  2. which 2 dunc, wind deflection will be one and i would give you that as i dont use mine so you will have far more experience than me but not sure which would be the other point.
  3. well on paper the 17 is better than 22 in the wind, in reality your right
  4. That would be Section 11 of the firearms act.
  5. come on dunc anyone can shoot rabbits with a 22 far past 75 yards, and who seriously shoots rabbits at 200yards. but like you say horses for coarses
  6. Yeah i got one too i only keep hold of it cause i keep thinking that one day i will find a use for it.
  7. 22lr for me as an all rounder, great for rabbits out to 150 yards ok on foxes to 50/60 yards and cheap ammo. the .17 is too harsh on bunnies unless you head shoot them and not enough for foxes past yards (my opinion) expensive ammo.
  8. jesse james, your cases will have expanded when fired, they may develop more pressure than the other rounds which will cause more expansion, i dont know if cci manufacture the winni rounds but all the rounds will be loaded to different spec for each customer be it Federal, Hornady or the cci brand. the onlt two things that would cause the problems experienced would be a faulty batch of ammo (unlikely) or the barrel,(more likely).
  9. Yeah but paying so much for brass kind of takes the cheapness out of reloading
  10. Take the 223 then you dont have to worry about range too much
  11. I have just ordered some privi brass in 223 any thoughts on how good or bad it is i have only used fed and rem in the past.
  12. so no one know of any populations in the west country then!!!.
  13. looks like you got her just in time good shooting.
  14. sounds like a load of work to me chuck in the bin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
  15. simple answer to this is stick with the 20g, if she dont like the 17g she dont like the 17g. some barrels are like that very fusy i have a fusy sako so i know how frustrating it can be.
  16. thanks for that 338LM very helpful. the Noslers are 20.25 and the 50g sp horns are 17.78 and 55g sp horn 18.38.
  17. any idea how long the 52g are, the nosler 50g bt is too long for a 1:12 twist they dont stabilize very well but anything smaller should be ok. i seem to think the nosler is 0.40 but iam not sure off hand, and the Hornady web site doesnt give the length for either A or V-max.
  18. when i was in the mob on a field firing ex in germany i shot a rabbit with a gpmg, single shot, just so happend it was the third round, a Tracer rabbit just burst in to flames and i got a charge was worth it though. Simon was the night vision the "old whistler" IWS?
  19. Thanks for that 338LM found that very interesting will have to try some Amax i too have a good distance to travel to an RFD not as far as you by the sound of things.
