airwolf technical problem.
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
it does not seem to be baffels more weak barrel mounting. it has not moved a mm with the to pull ties on for a week of use. usually the poi has moved say a minute or two within 30 mins of time without the pull ties on. -
airwolf technical problem.
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
when i clean it i just pull through without anything but a patch. never use detergent. so its leaded up from the first shot. 18.13g jsb 950fps. got that tip from edgun usa. if you shoot over longer range not cleaning makes a massive difference. not so obvious at 30 yards until its really dirty. -

i cannot see how daystate can say it does not exsist when there are other forums in the uk and usa that show people with airwolfs with the same or similar problems. some guys in the us have solved it by putting gaffa tape round the bottle and shroud. i allready sent an email to daystate last week. i have had no reply as yet. the fact of the matter is, its alot cheaper and more effective for me to find a solution. i shot 11 crows/jays/rooks this morning with the pull ties on. if daystate had a solution then people would not be having these problems. -
pump or dive tank ????
riflehunter583 replied to SEAN3513's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
one thing i would say is if your target shooting then a bottle is good and if your fit a pump is good. if your hunting a pump is good as you can take it with you, and hunting is lower shot count. becuase i shoot fac air i only really fill from 190 bar to 240 bar. even with a 12L 300 bar tank i only use the top of the tank till i need to go back to the scuba shop to top it back up. so the pump is less wasteful. the pump is .cheap, keeps me fit and stronger arms/legs for stalking on hands and knees or taking prolonged standing shots, portable and lighter than a tank, make you conserv -
How permission, this is how
riflehunter583 replied to halamrose's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
they gave me an open ticket when i got my fac air. then closed it off when i got my rimmy for one site. but my mate who used to be in the marines and has an fac wrote a glowing letter about me, he said a load of things and noted that i shot with him a number of times. then i wrote to them 5 weeks after having my ticket closed off to one site and they opened it up to shoot anywhere i deemed safe. i wrote the letter with a pen on some scrp paper that the receptionist gave me in the police headquarters sat in reception. ticket came back to me open. maybe they respect the fact that my mat -
airwolf technical problem.

the way i see it; its now out of warranty and when it was in warranty it cost me a fortune in time and diesel back and forward to the factory a number of times. i am just very very happy that the poi is not moving all the time now. just hope this might help some other poor sod save them buying 6 scopes: -
airwolf technical problem.
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
there are alot of threads that have indicated that the barrels can move on the airwolfs from usa shooters i have found.. i've got a gun cubard full of mounts i'm talking 10 mounts that have been on this gun. ive tried 6 + scopes on it. even brought a new cabinet with lots of foam so it don't get knocked. for the gun to be supplied without a band is bad but for the recently purchased band to not fit the shroud snug is much worse in my opinion. the only reason i have put up with this gun is becuase the barrel is very accurate, but i don't think i will be ever buying another d -
airwolf technical problem.
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
It comes to something when you pay over a grand for a gun and to eventually fix it and maintain poi you have to secure the barrel/shroud to the bottle with a pair of 5 p pull ties. the barrel band which did not come with the gun new only secures to the bottle so the shroud moves around in the top of it, not really doing anything until the pull ties are added. -

sounds like a good idea. i have shot it at 32ftlbs with the jsb 15.9g. to be honest i cannot remember if the poi moved at the time. will have to try it again. think removing the shroud may be another good idea as many in the usa have done this and the problem goes away. however i'm not sure how it would work as there is a cronograph in the end of the shroud on my model (mvt). of course will give this a go if i can. -

ok, i have an ongoing problem with my airwolf. POI changes constantly and randomly. after many problems with it and changing countless times, mounts, scopes, mod off mod on it i am coming to the conclusion that the barrel moves on it. so after some advice from a gun shop etc and one or two helpful members on here i brought a barrel band, a new larger foamed cabinet and yet another pair of sports match mounts today then swapped another scope onto it for the 6 th time. so fitted a barrel band today. tightened the 4 screws that hold the barrel on the bock and it has improved the problem. ban

If he will alow .243 then go with that mate, you could always book a days stalking, say on the muntjac, that will then give you a reason for the deer condition, that way if your ground is safe for .243 then he has no real reason to refuse you IE, fox control and stalking by payement or invite,it might be that you only wish to stalk once or twice a year, but that is no concern of the feo, you have good reason for the calibre and condition,so if that is what you decide you want dont be pushed into a .22 cf. really appreciate your comment. sorted. i'm gonna do that. and get my ds1 out the wa -

i see where your coming from load a light 55 g round and run it to 4k. fps for fox then load a larger round for deer runing slower. i supose its all down to my local the firearms officer who is a nice guy compared to others i have spoke to. -

riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Mainly foxing not much in the way of deer on my land. I have considered .17 and it sounds like .204 might be similar in terms of speed and accuracy. Its more ammo cost as I would be using it for target shooting as well as general vermin control on a few windy spots. -

How to catch crows?

thanks for the commens. interesting about dispatching them away from the cage. i must admit crows are adaptable, wary and easy to underestimate.
