  1. Put in for a variation a month ago and got my FAC back this morning! Great service and my local FLO was really helpful.
  2. Cheers, what camera and how did you fit it? I've seen some bullet cameras and a small LCD screen or vrd screen and a battery. But needs a decent ir laser illuminator. My ir sheet don work great on my lamp at all
  3. well i got the gel sheets through and did what youtube said and it didnt really work. I used my cluson SL2 50w lamp on full power but the result was terrible. so next question is whether having an IR illuminating torch / laser and a flip up filter on my scope might work better? main things here are keeping cost down and not having to have to change from something like a pulsar n550 to a daytime scope every time i want to go out late pm/night
  4. Ok, good to know. I was just looking for some peoples experiences given what they use them for. I've not come across lighter variants but happy to have some mentioned so i can look at those online. Use will be foxes and hopefully some deer later on calibre 243
  5. any thoughts on Niko Sterling or Smidt and Bendtner?
  6. Wow, so many good comments about most on the list. Think i need to wander into my local shop and see how they feel, particularly the thumbhole Howa as that really caught my eye I guess another consideration is weight as if i do get some stalking land then it would be nice not to have to carry something too heavy for long periods. Same for foxing with a lamp on it etc.
  7. Cheers Dan, that list is what I'm looking at IF I get the nod from my nice constabulary.
  8. from my point of view (very new to this in comparison with all you guys) is that those people who use their rifle/gun as part of their daily job view them as tools. the rest of us who are more hobbyists or part time keepers etc are more attached to our precious. no doubt others will have differing opinions but i'm going with the sit on fence as i refer to mine as "look after it, oil it, pass it up gently" etc (no gender specific)
  9. Hi, just looking for any advice or comments both good and bad for these rifles. Remington 700 sps Browning X bolt Steyr Mannlicher Pro Hunter MKII Tikka T3 Varmint Weatherby Vangard series 2 Howa 1500 Howa 1500 Thumbhole (im assuming the same rifle but just different stock) Anyone got any experience with conventional stock v's thumbhole? Cheers Hutchey
  10. ive ordered some of those coloured gel sheets that the disco lights have as apparently if you get a red and a blue it makes the light turn into IR almost. Will wait and see as the sheets only cost me £2 there are places that sell the clip on IR filters but at £30 + i thought i'd try this method first Will let you know how it goes.
  11. thanks for all the replies i was on youtube looking at the videos of the night vision and thermal imaging and that's where this all started from. i guess i need to try a night vision and see what its like for my eyes its either that or carrying some 22ah lithium batteries around
  12. Hi, Has anyone got experience for the ns200 or similar for night vision? I'm looking for something like that or maybe just get a good scope and lamp. mainly for fox and rabbiting, however i need to bear in mind other shooting like Deer (i know i cant shoot at night for deer) but is having the scope on for all round use acceptable? Ideally i don't want to be spending over £600 for night vision and then another ???? for a good scope for dawn/dusk shooting Cheers
  13. Hi, I put in for a variation and SGC and now i have the visit from my local FLO later this week. Any useful tips or bits of info anyone can offer on when they had their SGC/variation visit? Cheers Rich
  14. Mines in for a variation an I've done the same as Sussex's friend. Will wait to see what happens.
  15. yes, rimfire magic do them and so do other places. £14 delivered mine was. It makes a huge difference my understanding of creeping is that its the amount of play the trigger before the firing pin goes. the standard trigger on mine was stiff and jerky which caused pulling of shots (it was a new rifle to a new FAC holder) changed to the middle spring option in the kit and bosh, no floppy or jerky trigger, just a short precise pull and bang
  16. yup, dead easy, i wasnt sure it would be but it really is. push the pins out slowly and mind the spring popping out and its that easy
  17. cz with trigger kit is what i'm using and its great
