  1. Get a mod, just tried mine tonight and damn it was really really loud! Got an Atec on order that I can collect on Wednesday.
  2. I've just got one too, not yet fired a shot with my own but the trial one I fired was good
  3. Dumb question to anyone on here but what about Deer farms or places where they can't easily hide, get to cover, etc? The only thing i could think of for a quick shot was if someone was looking to put down a magazines worth of Deer like some kind of Rambo film in a very quick time. Even as i type this it still makes feck all sense. My DSC guy said to take the shot when i was happy and comfortable and the groupings were 4 or 6 inches (cant recall exactly) and i had prone, standing and kneeling/sitting off of a bipod.
  4. I'm a novice too but the guys i've been out with have never made me rush a shot. In fact just the opposite as we didn't want to miss entirely, wound or then spend the next few hours trying to find a wounded deer. This aint the ole wild west after all. LOL
  5. Is this a competition between you and Owen to see who does the best write-ups? Good reading that too!
  6. That looks fab Rob, nice one to go on a wall Rich
  7. I'd like a nice head on my wall, just he one to have for my own reward as it were.
  8. Perhaps you shouldn't have dogs or maybe attitudes towards "working" dogs are different but its simply a matter of preference. I'd rather shoot for a split second humane kill than wait seconds relying on mans best friend to do my dirty work for me. If he gets away unharmed then what was the point when my 55g would have blown him apart.
  9. Possibly true! but a dog can still be unlucky, get bitten or maybe it take longer to kill the fox, the dog might get hurt, it might pick up mange and god knows what. Bullet night miss vitals so really its down to preference, experience, accuracy etc which is used but end of the day the intended result is the same. That's my opinion
  10. I've got a dog who'd have a go but he's only tiny himself, brave as anything but not much bigger than our cat. To risk peeing the dog folks off (and i dont mean to as i've never tried) but using a dog seems a little inhumane to me. At least with a bullet its "generally" a straight kill or at least should be! Now before i get all the abuse in the world, i've no idea how the dog are used and what scenarios so i'm only basing it on the old Horse Hunts and Hound scenario.
  11. i know, i know but i play more than i shotgun. Rifles, martial arts, golf, shotgun
  12. sort of depends on what they say and what budget that takes me to as another rifle is my first priority. golf club fees come next in terms of large outages after that then the shotty. Thats the trouble with having had no work for 5 months until a few weeks ago. All builds up
  13. i've got at least 3 foxes coming for the mrs's chickens. they come at all times of day and night, never when i'm rifled up though. wed night we had the small bedroom window open, curtains closed and i hear charlie, so i squeak a bit, charlie replies so i squeak again. a few goes back and forth (i'm still lying in bed and its gone midnight) and he's real close. Mrs gets up and looks out, charlie is only in the bloody front garden. i'd not have minded but by the time i'm up, dressed, rifle out an ready, charlie will be in Sussex! Once i get my 243 next week after pay day, they are having it.
  14. i'll head to a couple of gunsmiths then and see what they do., cheers folks
  15. ok, so its a case of find somewhere to go and be able to try some then. not easy round here.
  16. I'm not sure mate. Bullx100% is the lad I was out with. I'm sure he will comment on here. Looks like a Hatsan Escort! Those guns get such bad stick, never had a problem with mine! Good shooting, you thinking about getting into it more now? Yeah, looking at getting my first one soon, already tried clays with a friends gun but it kicked way too much. looking for one that will do clays, pheasants, etc
  17. Cheers, had my rimmy a while now and now got my variation and open ticket. Have just made contact with the club to see what they say.
  18. , C'mon hutchey, I wouldn't have taken the shot it it wasn't safe. He certainly got vaperised though i'm no expert nor on moral high ground but i've heard and seen so many stories and video clips that just defy all safety. Nice one though and it is of interest as i'm looking to ask a course that i play if they need someone to help with their rabbits as they are causing a lot of damage.
  19. good head shot but i hope that wasn't a club house or building in the backdrop
  20. Cool, I must get one for my Charlie watch
