  1. Swellings going down!.. Thorn went in underside and abcess came up topside!
  2. Blackthorn, same tree/hedge where you pick your sloe berries for gin! The berries have a blue haze covering them, some kind of yeast/fungus, the same stuff is all over the prickly growth and when you get pricked the tip usually breaks off. Therefore, when you get spiked that stuff goes under the skin and stays there with a small piece of the spike causing infection and pain…If you’re really unlucky you can develop septasimia! http://druidry.org/obod/trees/blackthorn.html
  3. My Meg' is from Irish stock.. ...Where's yours from?
  4. Meg’ went lame on me an hour or so after getting home from a good run on Monday and her foot swelled up pretty bad… Because she was behaving perfectly normal at the end of the run, travelling home and when she arrived home I reckoned it was a fair bet that she’d been stung or picked up a thorn. Anyway, off to the vets as she was due her booster’s, get two things done for the price of one… My ‘running dog’ vet was on his hol’s so we saw his colleague. I explained the problem and advised her that she doesn’t like her feet touched at the best of times, “can we use
  5. Fortunatley I don't have to work the dog on that ground, just pass through on occasion. I'm blessed with good ground for running Meg' as you can see in the pictures. There was just the one occasion she went off on the very same flinty fields... I can assure you it was unexpected and just off the footpath!
  6. Yea she likes a good stretch.. Went for a mooch over some water meadows near me today, she must have got stung/pricked or bitten as a front paw has swollen up. Noticed it after she'd been asleep on the sofa, was ok when she was out so I'm quite confident its not a running injury, swelling appears to be going down already..

    help longnet

Poles with grommets are best imo ...The rubber rings.inner tube/castration rings will perish in time, the grommets don't. On the end poles REW, do your clove hitch and tie it off. Leave a few inches (tapped to the end pole) incase you need to do repaires etc.

    Rook food?

Cut the rabbit pieces up small Molly, they may be too weak to tear the flesh themselves. Try some mince meat also!
  11. Not a good idea to run a dog behind/alongside a car imo Friend was checking fencing and his spaniel was running free, head down on a scent two wheels went over his head.. ..Dog survived and was fit and well after a couple of days!
  12. We use the 'Binatone' with no problem. If others come in on our chosen frequency, usually children, we just tell em it's a police frequency... ...they soon change their station..
  13. Got quite a variation in ground where I am, South Downs. Top of the hill is flint and chalk whereas the north side is very sandy in these parts. Fresh drill on the top of the downs can be pretty rough until a season’s rain brings what little soil there is to the top, the area I usually run the dog on are sandy/meadows. If we’re out for an occasional mooch on rough ground Meg’ appears to have the sense to hold back and watch her footing. I also exercise her on the beach and you can’t get much rougher than that!...Touch wood, she’s never injured her feet! My previous lurcher only ever

  16. Try Currys, twenty quid each, packs of two. We use them on the shoot with no bother and they can be used with most other makes I believe.
