  1. Go for it!.... Lets hear more Kat, lots of people are having problems in varying degrees and I'm sure we could all learn something..
  2. How does she do with a dummy in the park? My Meg' fecks around due to excitment with her catch, the more she catches on any outing the better she gets. Had a great couple of hours on the Arundel Wetlands today, I lost count of the rabbits she caught and each retrieve got better and closer to hand. One of the last rabbits caught she promptly ran past me into the river ...She let the rabbit go while she cooled off then swam after it and retrieved it to hand. That was easy as I waited on the bank just where she came out.. I dispatched it and through it back in the river, promptly followed
  3. Perfect! ...Good marking dog that and one that knows the rabbit is close to the entrance. Seen it done often with success..
  4. I use a 17 - 85 for my lamping shots,...you'll need to get a flash as well imo and that will cost as much as the lens.. Good luck, you'll need it!..
  5. Just curious snoopdog, what will you be tugging that weighs that much?
  6. After thirty four years in the same business and three redundancies I decided to hang up my hat and buy a lawn mower... ...I now do property maintenance and landscape gardening, also rabbit control of course ... I earn more than I spend and I spend as much as I want .. For those of you out of work, with the exception of those living in severely depressed areas, there's loads of people wanting something doing so get out there and get working! ..Charge a sensible rate do a good job and you'll always have money in your pocket
  7. Very clean and tidy that!....Too clean.. Mine's a LWB 2.8 TDi much better ride
  8. A good day out then Woodga ...Can't wait to get started myself Were'nt you hot wearing those overcoats!!!
  9. Good post skycat, did he offer you some of the drink he was on at the time!... ...Feck me I must be a 'Tumbler' as I can't keep on my feet even when I'm sober... Now this is what I call a tumbler....
  10. Didn't have space for more pic's above.. Round my way it's a bit dodgy for me to run the Hare, the area is all game estates and I've worked all the big ones and some small estates, so I keep to the humble coney.... If there are any invites to run my 'tumbler' this season to see what she can do.. I'd love the opportunity to get some more pictures of other peoples lurchers or whatever you want to call them..
  11. Where are the pictures of yours? What is a 'Tumbler'?... I have read different descriptions/claims and I'm a little confused! ..Burrell wrote on his web site, "Ben(right) is a specialist rabbit dog with superior agility and acceleration (for short dashes in small spaces). Sam (left) is 'up on the leg' with ground covering stride, more suited to hares in open spaces". Both the descritions refere to litter mates!...So according to "Lurcher expert Jeff" my Meg's must be a Tumbler... She's certainly agile enough.... Determined.... With plenty of speed...for lon
  12. Depends how many there are..... Usually try and get someone else to carry them...
  13. Make their accommodation as large as you can .... Mine are in a ferret court (like an aviary) 6' x 6'.
  14. The drinker stays put Stubby, you just lift the bottle out and refill. When it has collected too much algae sling it and use another empty bottle ..Yea the collect some wood chips but they aint harmfull, no worse than rinking outta dirty puddle Biggest draw back, fecking dog sometimes takes a drink from 'em... ...
  15. Go to your local farm supply shop and get one of these for a couple of quid.... Get an empty wine bottle.. :alcoholic: ...fill with water.... Ferrets can't knock it about and you can refresh their water with out having to disturb your stinkers..
  16. Absolutley feck all imo....Bit like having a gsd cross, I for one can't see the point ...How about a Dalmation x Greyhound?....Loads of stamina and would run for miles...
  17. Personal choice that's all! but above all I prefere my Meg'..
  18. Standard Poodles are gun dogs, bred for duck I think I'm right in saying. I'd rather a poodle/grey than a gsd/grey!
  19. A very valid point imo gaz!...She will be four in December. Most of the time Meg' is run on sandy ground north of the Downs near me, third picture is a good example. The second pic' was in the same area as the first pic but not quite as bad, that first pic' was in the corner of the field where the plough will push to the edge. Meg' does run "cunning" and so-far has adapted to the various terrain presented to her, so on really rough ground she holds back....so far!.. But, accidents can happen!...Fingers crossed I shall do the utmost to keep her safe!
  20. ..Some dogs like a full pedicure and some don't! My present bitch comes under the "some don't" category.. I try to catch my Meg' out while she's asleep, but alas she sleeps light I remember three off us holding down a collie/grey' on one occassion, it was er "emotional".. Likewise, trying to muzzle Meg' at the vet's when she needed treatment for her blackthorn injury I have discovered that if I pick up her feet as you would a horse's foot I can get away with clipping one nail. Fortunatley, despite putting maximum effort into what she does on some serious ground, she has never injured
  21. Ouch! .... Get well soon, as they say!...Get a quad bike to get aroubd ferreting
