  1. Julie,...Only use the 'jill jab' as a last resort. It isn't good for them!
  2. How many remember their little hunting companions as trusting loyal and efficient predators with a do or die attitude! I’ve had many ferrets over the years and only a few stay in my memory, those that gave exceptional service with 100% commitment and 100% trustworthy especially when you pushed your hand through the labyrinth of tunnels feeling your way to the coney over the determined ferret that has the rabbit bottled in the stop end. How many of to days tyros could do that with their ferrets, so much talk of “how do you stop a ferret biting?†We reinvent the wheel so many times when we
  3. Some good fun pictures there. What breed is the dog with the baggy face?
  4. The Chinese use rabbit milk as an aphrodisiac and you can get it on the National Health here as an alternative to Viagra. I use it all the time, gives me just enough of an extension to miss my slippers when I have a piss!
  5. What about the stanley knives and modelling knives in my toolbox that is always in my car!!
  6. Working Border progeny wins the Best of Breed at Scottish Kennel Club Show and is awarded his second ‘CC’………….. Well done Vixen's wee Piper!
  7. Just the job for our warm climate down here. If it rains I put a net bag ontop or turn it on its side. Great for transporting them in the car, especially if you want to leave them in the car during a break!
  8. It's not unusual for him to vanish when forum bickering and daft posting hits a peak, he might even come back!
  9. Sounds like a bath is a regular thing for you dog Agree with you softening the claws first, mind you my Meg runs a mile soon as the clippers come out and I'll be lucky to trim just one claw. I run her on the beach/sands that sorts 'em
  10. you wouldn't need a bit of Bull in a general mooching dog imo, unless it is well diluted ..Something like this would suit..
  11. I'm not going to knock Hancock, it's been done to death here there and everywhere!...No his pup are not socialised, the shear volume makes that job impossible for him imo. Bide your time young fella, what ever you get will/should be with you for up to fifteen years so choose carefully Last pup I got came from a guy on here, well bred/socialised and he didn't charge me for her...There will always be someone here who will help with the right dog. Good luck and as the saying goes, "Patience Grasshopper".
  12. think you got that a little wrong! Ferrets are gregarious animals, reckon you'd pace up and down if you were in solitary for life .
  13. Fecking hell!...Bet you don't get many people sleeping over
  14. Some of the bullx boys would give their eye teeth for a dog to look like that!
  15. thats what i was wondering thats why i wanted to know the main differences between the both Google 'Polecat'. One is good to work with, the other you will need welding gloves
  16. Many people refer to a polecat coloured ferret as a polecat. Is it a polecat or just a polecat marked/coloured ferret?
  17. Just keep the wound clean imo. Some time back a jill of mine had a nasty sore neck from the mating ritual and I just happened to have some 'Comfrey & Calendula Balm' in the dog's first aid kit and applied to her wound. The other ferrets thought it was really tasty and licked her neck bald.. as a coot!...The young hob she had been scrapping with came off with a sore ear and the same balm was applied, like I said, the ferrets thought it very tasty and ate most of his ear also... ...never been a problem to him though.
  18. 99.9% of the time they'll be under ground when you're bolting to guns, they won't know what's happening up top!
  19. You're making net pegs not a fecking posh stick!...Cut the hazel when you see what you want anytime for net pegs
  20. Nice looking specimen there Doga!
  21. You should get a ferret airborne with five or six rockets ....Seriousley, mine aren't bothered, if it makes you happy stick them indoors for the duration. Mines a pint!
  22. No. Cut the hazel into 6" lengths thick as your finger, point one end drill hole tother end...done!
  23. When I started ferreting all I had was ten shitty nets a jill and a hob...NO locator! If you don't have anyone to tag along with you must go it alone. Early morning start find a small bury well away from cover and stick your ferrets in...fecking great seeing those first bunnies bolt.. I can still picture my first time. It's unlikely your ferrets will stay to ground long, assuming they're tyros like yourself. Good luck and get stuck in... And if you've a dog it's even better with out nets..
