    The true test for a terrier is when it enters an earth regardless of debth or what quarry lies in wait below and if not bolted stayes until dug to regardless of how long it takes to get there,let it be an hour or a day or what punishment it takes in the prosess,but if person is happy to do a bit of rabbiting or ratting with there dogs then so be it thats there choice. Here, Here fatman, it is possible to do both mate ratting and underground work ,it wont do your terrier any harm, best thing for bringing on a young pup before earth work, brings on there nose, atb stripes.

    And your point is? you have a earthdog and one day you decide to go and have some craic working rats instead of earthwork with the same dog, he is still working no matter what he is doing. if a terrier nails 30 rats,,, believe you me he is working and earning his keep.

    yes wilf they are, river fishing you will need a license ,even if your not fishing for salmon the bailiffs will assume you are, rod license needed with a permit to fish certain rivers, rock or beach fishing saltwater your ok without unless your fishing for sea trout, general license ok for pidgeon but there are times when you can and cant shoot them, hope this helps wilf. pigeons have a season like game unless your shooting them for crop damage thanks chid,

    Yes wilf, permission goes along way if your doing the lurcher ,terrier end of things, most areas are all taken up with gun clubs ,,not only will they shoot pheasant pidgeon, ducks, they also control a lot of vermin work, most clubs would use hounds,, big areas of cover here wilf. you should be able to get your guns covered by the local garda, i dont shoot myself so not up on gun laws,, much the same as uk. A lot of farmers like to see all vermin eradicated.
