One of my lurchers years ago caught a woodcock on the lamp,, i had the lamp on what i thought was a rabbit red eyes, bloody thing tried to drill a hole in my face with that long sharp beak, i swiped at it with the lamp,, tico the lurcher jumped for it nailed it.

Used to use a powder that you mix in the dogs food it was a yellow powder,, cant remember the name of it, but it cooled the blood and stopped the dog from itching and scratching, fecking memory.

How come you aint got a dog now pal I just keep terriers now parson russells, less road walking, had to get two discs removed in my back, had to slow down a bit, not fair to keep lurchers penned all the time,, broke my heart, atb mate.

Dont keep lurchers any more mate lost two crackin dogs, bred won shows done the game fairs, kept alsation wheaten greyhounds,, the whippet cross was the first lurcher i had , didnt even need a slip on her , walked her through sheep cattle horses pigs she never looked twice at them, a fookin pleasure to be out in the field with her.

Had a little whippet cross about 20 years ago called tico, man she could run endless stamina, obedient as you could want,, rabbit after rabbit, didnt realise what i had at the time, but i could never replace her now, she was irish terrier x.
