Lure fishing for trout.
Canadian Black Bears replied to bushing lad's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Kinda sounds like a fish story to me, 14 lb trout in a chalkstream... -

Exactly...a quad is the ticket for sure. I really enjoy my side by side...great thread here as learned lots of how you guys and gals do things. Thanks for sharing. -
The camp is a fishing and hunting camp both. I use the camp for my outfitting business hunting black bears (www.blackbearoutfitters.ca) and there are several other reasons for having a camp. Several fellow outdoorsman get together several times a year, be it to go fishing, hunt rabbits, hunt deer, hunt bear, ruff grouse hunting, touring the back roads on our side by sides, or just to relax, tell lies, eat extraordinary meals which most likely are not good for you, and play cards. It's home away from home (if you read between the lines, I actually mean the Mrs. as it gives us both a break). If

Wow...I guess I was right out to lunch asking this question. That is why we have limited seasons and cannot hunt year round or on Sundays. Our deer season starts the end of September to the first week of December with a bag limit of only 1 deer and that has to be a buck unless you draw a doe tag. Even with such a short season, yes, we still have dick heads as well. We are truly blessed to have such big country and government land we can hunt but let's not forget the neighbors who allow us to hunt their land free of charge and only ask that we respect their property. The more I think about it t

I noticed most of you have to hunt on leases and private land. Here we have a lot of government land which everyone is allowed to hunt without permission but not allowed to construct buildings. What do you do on your leases as far as over night stays? I know myself and 3 other buddies had a 18 foot travel trailor we used to drag all over the place one year to the next until we finally built a camp on 50 acres of land with great neighbors who own over 250 acres which we can also hunt. The camp is definitely better than a travel trailor as lots of room and very, very comfortable. It sleeps 7

How did you make out and did you find any pics to post? It's great seeing how other people get along and the challenges they have. Thanks for sharing.

From what I have read most everyone uses trucks with very few quads or side by sides. The countryside appears a lot different than where we hunt our deer, bears, and rabbits. We hunt in the woods not over fields and trucks would never get to where most of us go. These bikes are the ticket for us plus they are a lot of fun. -
How was your 2011 deer season
Canadian Black Bears replied to Canadian Black Bears's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Sorry so late getting back to you, the deer on the ground died from exhaustion and the other deer was darted to untangle them. It did survive but they had to cut the antlers in order to untangle them. It was a shame to lose such a big deer out of the gene pool but at least one of them survived. Cheers and safe hunting -
That pic is of my son and he loves the outdoors. He is more of a fisherman than a hunter even though he does like hunting. Here is some pics of some other bears I had hitting my sites last year as well as some nice whitetail bucks. Only 15 days to the start of fishing season...can't wait.

Hey woodsy mum, we have speckled trout, sea run speckle trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, salmon, small mouth bass, stripe bass, chain pickeral, and perch which are all fresh water species and all have different seasons, limits and method of catching them. There are far too many saltwater species to mention . We can hunt whitetails with a bow (longer season) or rifle but in Nova Scotia we cannot use dogs, only with rabbits as far as I know. Me, I'm a rifle guy but I think I am going to try my hand at bow this fall as the season is over a month longer. I have used my trusty ole 30-30 winc

Yeah, it is awesome but it's only for 3 weeks a year then I start my whitetail deer hunting. Can't wait for fishing season as it starts April 1st. Cheers and safe hunting Rob

Hey (as we say in Canada) woodys mum, sorry so late getting back to you but have been away at my camp for a while and been doing lots of smelt fishing. We can't hunt deer or any other big game with dogs in Nova Scotia. I am a black bear outfitter and have lots of fun doing that. You can see my web page at www.blackbearoutfitters.ca for a better explanation and some pictures. I really enjoy this forum as the hunting and deer are a lot different from what we have here. The people are totally awesome and very helpful as well. I also have a facebook page Canadian Black Bear Outfitters with some gr

Walking is fine mate but at my age a nice ride like this makes things pretty sweet. This is an ATV thread, doesn't anyone use ATV's for side by sides there? What do you use other than the 2 feet God has given us? -
Whitetail Deer in my backyard
Canadian Black Bears replied to Canadian Black Bears's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Not sure if they are does or not...they have already shed their antlers, the one standing in back the group might be the buck as the others at the feeder are all pretty small with some fawns mixed in. -
My buddy has a crack corn feeder in his backyard for the deer during the winter months. We were doing some target practice with our .22's at 3:15 pm and this lot of deer showed up at about 5:15 pm for their supper . We haven't had much in the way of snow this year and the deer are in real nice shape .

Here, in Nova Scotia Canada, Ducks Unlimited, an organization which conserves, restores and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl sells excellent and very reasonably priced hunting gear. Their clothing is warm, breathable, great quality, and waterproof. There is a local outlet which sells some of their clothing line and it is a great price. If you can order any of their products on line I would highly recommend you give it a go!!
