  1. are FB still letting people sell meat. If I search lamb on the market place now a days. I see sod all just ornaments. Same for beef and even eggs
  2. Rabbits need very little cover to sit out as well. If you know of a long thick hedge it can be worth walking across the field to a point in the hedge you set a couple of nets on the runs. Then walk back out in to the field and go the end and just walk down it tapping it with a stick. I think your biggest issue will be rabbits sitting out. So it can be worth just walking around and beating any cover. Also holes in fields in that area rarely hold rabbits. Another thing to watch is the holes with rabbits in will the be the unlikely ones tucked away. They won't be dug out fres
  3. Try giving the collar a little tap I think some times the switch in them can get stuck
  4. Poor fella stabbed yesterday and don't see them yelling ban knives and people stabbed all the time. Obviously you can't anyway but as a comparison
  5. Just cobblers basically sure the shooting man will lose out or have more hoops to jump

  7. Yes good luck I am only kidding Great way to spend some time. Get the dog going if you can though and little it of help from it would be handy even if its tied up all the time
  8. Ah your stuffed then mate take up knitting. Finding rabbits with out a dog in that neck woods won't be easy though you get the odd little easy patch but few and far between. It was all going so well I was hoping you were up north some where they seem to have it easy there going from the reports I see on here
  9. Better with than with out. You can manage but rather have one. I remember as a kid digging a ferret out with a stick and using a bloody bramble to follow the hole. It took hours and just by pot luck found the ferret who had climbed over the rabbit and got stuck on the other side

  11. Awesome that and a beautiful place too
  12. I think I saw some thing earlier on fb it wasn't even aimed at him and just burnt out and another truck was just down the road. Nothing to do with hunting folks despite what he says
  13. I made some pigeon was like iron even the dog gave it a swerve. I need a proper dehydrator I think they only 30 quid
  14. Basically this but I pressure cooked it as I didn't have time for slow cooking. Important to trim the breasts too I think get rid of silver skin and tendons
  15. Well you want 100% bagging so you want 10 yards of net to over 5 yards in distance so I think 90. Double check though cause my maths aint the best
  16. Walk up a hedge into the wind with the dog and an indication can be very subtle. This was mine this morning marking and he didn't even go near the hole and he was bang on. His on a long line because there is dual carriageway hundred yard a way. This is him telling me there is another one up the other end of the holes but it wasn't easy on my own so I left it. If your on your own get some bells for the ferrets collar I would never go with out them. I locator I manage with out but not bells. Though the dog will tell me where the ferret is but tied up like this they are
  17. You have the ideal dog if you can sort with ferrets and sheep and to be honest so long as it is not going nuts trying to get a ferret you can just work off a long line and tether to the side once you get some sort of indication. Let it check out the first netted dead rabbit and I think you would be on a winner. Plus on a long line you can work around sheep safely and sort that as well and get focus on rabbits.
  18. Yea the hardest part of starting a young ferret is if you don't have a dog to mark. Constantly putting a ferret down empty holes at least a young one they just start messing. So do your best to find holes with some thing in assuming you don't have dog. Good luck and enjoy. Another thing that will happen if you don't have a dog after putting the ferret down numerous empty holes you will get sloppy with the nets or not even bother and that will be the time there is some thing at home lol
  19. Do gooding bunch of wobbles getting sick of them all cant do this cant do that no end to it
  20. Scout it well for few days. Around here they might hit a field hard for a week every day and then gone. But up north I think you have it better
  21. No he air scents a lot. He will stand down wind and just suck it in. This was close but there was a fox just down in the valley He will hold a line across field full tilt like a hound. As a pup he would bolt across a field like a bullet and blank me and I thought what a noob but when he got other side he would flush some thing
  22. His a collie grey x bull grey. Best nose I have ever seen and goes at stuff like a bull at a gate. Like having a 27 inch terrier. Bright as a button which means he runs rings around me. My next pup is on order and will be a mix of collie, kelpie grey so that tells you some thing lol
  23. Easy to live with factors into it. Also a full on type won't care if your down the park or in the woods if some gets up its going in. So consider that too
  24. Since I stopped aiming my shotgun with one eye and just pointing it with two open my shooting has improved no end. Even now though I some times fall into the trap of thinking about the shot and start aiming and miss. If I just concentrate on looking at the target and forget the gun I do ok. Also find if for example a pile of birds turn up I can miss unless I try and really focus on one bird then I am ok. Just my findings
