  1. Very tragic that. Lamping does seem too account for many a dog in one way or another. I lost mine one night as a kid. Don't know if I would take the risk now a days not that I have a running dog now. Say that I am sure if I did I would soon get back at it. Sorry for your loss looked a very nice dog
  2. This may help http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hawk-Bush-Jack-G-Mavrogordato/dp/0854350829/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351800104&sr=8-1
  3. Brilliant read that and the ferret looks really healthy 3 legs or not. Sounds like you had a really enjoyable outing
  4. Fingers crossed hope she pulls through for you
  5. The one on this page by secret agent mole was stunning http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/261730-pigeon-for-dinner/ I had too fight the wife off the left overs and the smell of cooking pigeons was out of this world
  6. Mine have nearly zero interest in a rabbit once it is dead as they get fed mostly dry food so that would make no sense in my case
  7. Very true right little character you got there
  8. Nice read that did enjoy I agree about a terrier too ideal dogs
  9. Jesus christ that's harsh I take my previous post back then I found these links for some light reading http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/47513-Trespass-Law http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/s_to_u/trespass_and_nuisance_on_land/
  10. lol whos been naughty boy then. So long as you weren't carrying a fire arm things shouldn't be too bad
  11. great jr's this is what this thread is all about small dogs with big hearts, them two are a credit to the type of russel i love. They were naturals and took too it with no effort mind you I remember taking moses ferreting when he was only few months old just used too carry him with me every where. Be nice too think there are still dogs like that around
  12. yeh cant beat a good jrt as they have never been bred to close just worker to worker, and who knows what they are bred from, you will seldom see a sick or mangey jr seem to be imune to most things. Funny you should say that I said exact same thing to wife earlier today. I was taking cocker for walk she said watch where you take him as he spent few days in vets week or two ago with some mystery illness and I said I have never known one of my terriers be ill
  13. Nice little dog bulljack in my opinion you cant beat a russell from good parents. I was never into the lakelands and pats. I did have one but he was a pain in the kennels and not as good as my jr he seemed lacking in the brain department Moses was a brainy bugger and great ferreting dog too had too keep him on lead when digging or he would off marking rabbits
  14. Sadly not they both went too old age then about the time they passed I got wife and kids and only now 20 years later am I getting back into field sports. Got few ferrets and pet cocker at the moment. Rented house only allowed one dog I think when he passes away I will be after a nice little terrier. Miss having a working dog
  15. Few pictures of mine pre ban great happy days wish I could take the clock back Have tess and moses having rag of a dead fox after a good dig Tess soft as any thing around the yard wouldn't hurt a fly but in the field she transformed Tess Tess thinking you took ya bloody time Moses having a rag Moses Moses baying
  16. Yea joined too nice too see some thing worth looking at on the place
  17. Used too be good money in the forestry tree felling and short wooding if you were prepared too go for it. But it could be a bloody slog at times
  18. Yep the one in my picture made it too 18 + and backend went too. Dam good age
  19. Dam good day that. Rabbits do seem too like railway banks
  20. Brilliant day and bringing on a young terrier pup and a ferret that's my idea of heaven. The JR will soon get the hang of it and the penny will drop whats required Great stuff oh and welcome by the way
  21. Lol yea I see what you mean there but a terrier could do that job. My point is a good bushing marking dog would be my priority and catching bolters and net slippers a low second. Horse before the cart and all that But that is just my opinion there is no right and wrong so long as your happy who cares I have neither at the moment just pet cocker spaniel who is a food obsessed over excitable nutter but we love the git anyway
  22. For me personally in this neck of the woods I would want a good busher and marker that would be far more important than catching bolting rabbits I would be happy with a dachund if it did that job well I have nets for the bolting rabbits part
  23. I could count mine on one hand with the ferrets tough going too say the least
  24. fingers crossed a happy ending would be nice
