  1. Nice setup that my hutches are raised off the floor so I would need some sort of clever tunnel though
  2. Card board boxes from the kitchen like serial boxes tea bag boxes just change them over every few days so they have new one. Mine love hiding in them and jumping around on them
  3. Nice little afternoon that made even sweeter by being self propelled
  4. True and you can nip back late with a torch to check it
  5. I had a rabbit today it was bit tough to skin so I decided to give it to the ferrets. When I skinned it I did notice a small red pimple on its belly under the skin other than that it looked healthy but as I went to cut the back leg of there was a big squirt of fluid and white eggs every where. What bothers me is I didn't notice it until I cut into it so I could have used it for the table. I have a rabbit bubbling away in the oven now but its to be tough going when I eat it latter bit put off at the moment should of had bacon, egg and chips with the mrs
  6. I have been using the gundog whistle on our cocker who is 7 and he is a hundred percent in the house and gets a reward when he comes. I have started to use it when we are out and about also but not over doing it and so far he has just swung round and come straight back. I think the whistle helps obvisouly to take the emotion out of your voice which he tends to just blank when we are out because he senses my frustation other wise. I will phase out the treats eventually
  7. Doesnt have to be an earth dog be a working terrier. A working terrier is one that does what ever you need out of it. If that is going to ground on foxes, marking rabbits or fetching shot pigeons as long as your happy with it thats the main thing. A good ferreting dog is not to be under estimated. A good ferreting dog should flush rabbits toground even if it means tracking across 4 fields like a little hound. It should then mark silently with out digging and going to ground or yapping. When the ferret is down it should stay to the side of a hole not stand in front of it. I liked mine to pin
  8. Looks a nice ferret he don't look bad in that picture either
  9. I imagine for the well being of the site it can't be seen too condone illegal activities either
  10. Try and offer some thing nice tit bits of food or oil like ferret fomula works well so they come to you and while they are licking the oil you can handle them and they start to like being picked up
  11. Mine were the same work great yet no interest in rabbit meat. But since dicing some up they are now getting quite keen on it
  12. Moses a little on the big side but never seemed to cause him a problem now long gone unfortunately. Great all rounder excellent ferreting dog and digger. Took some lads from the valleys ferreting one day they were well impressed by his marking after they moaned we were walking by used rabbit holes so too prove a point I ferreted them and dog was right. He then went on too mark some leaf filled holes and we bagged up. Walking back too the van then he went too ground on a fox which we dug so a good day all round. 100% with stock and not a problem to have around. I remember once he was sat o
  13. Might try that tomorrow bung it slow cooker before I go to work. Got a choice of pataks balti or an aldi bilah tika I found in the cupboard
  14. Can't beat it great fun and numbers don't matter but of course it is nice too get one or two too keep you encouraged. Good luck when you go back
  15. Hardly drew blood should have put a mink in there then he would have earned his star. Did look like it was getting stuck in mind
  16. Not sure if these guys could help http://falcons.co.uk/default.asp?id=32&menu=2 they are big in breeding birds and know there stuff
  17. spammers have wrecked it the owner is probably planning his next move
  18. I had that type of splitter about 8 years ago when I was selling logs. My only gripe with it was the speed of the ram it was quite slow which was a pain when you were in a hurry so I often got my chopper back out. But they do make it easy Despite the power you still have to use your head with the knotty bits and nibble at them but it will do them
  19. Found this on google I Have a deban catalogue infront of me and the listings are. Mk1 collar will only work with mk1 locator. Mk2 collar works with mk1, mk2 and mk3 locator Mk3 collar will work with mk1 and mk3 locator. and I just got a mark 3 collar that works with my mark 1 box to confirm the above but apparently a mark 1 collar wont work with a mark 3 box according too google anyway
  20. I would have said sycamore but it wouldn't burn well green but dries up nice and goes very light when seasoned and splits easy
  21. They are great too have around once you get used too them. Full of fun and happy creatures if you sort out the breeding issues as joe said. Best thing I had done was castrate my hob he turned into a bundle of fun instead of the sex mad grease monkey he was I wouldn't be with out mine now
  22. Just had a quick look on youtube for you but didnt go past page one mostly quickset videos. If you can muster the funds get this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/1846890586/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1353880362&sr=8-1&condition=new
  23. As soon as you can let the pup nose through the cage front if it can and let them mingle in the yard. If the ferret nips the pup all well and good at an early stage better now than later and things should be fine as the pup grows up with them
  24. Glad that ended well would have been a sad story other wise. Losing a dog too ground was all ways my worst fear in the old days. I used to weigh it up in my mind risking a dog you have got attached too but on the other hand you have to let them do what they love and I wouldn't have it any other way
