  1. How about they knock on this guys door that claps when a hunter gets killed http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/284931-this-is-disgusting-please-all-report/ Really past a joke now a days
  2. That is sick i have reported it but I doubt they will take it down. Facebook should be taken down completely the amount of bullying that place is responsible for is huge and impossible to fully police.
  3. I think any terrier that is good at rabbits as in really good will also be good at fox and likely to drop to ground whether thats a patterdale or jack Russel don't matter much. A really good working terrier will tend to be good across the board I think any way. Two jack russels that come to mind going back some time were both great rabbiting dogs but also as good at fox
  4. I was under the impression this only affects you if you claim housing benefit other wise it doesn't ?
  5. Bugger all I am at the other end of the scale buy an orvis dog blanket for 70 quid then see one online for 30
  6. Sounds like your biggest issue is the wife. Tell her it will be in a secure cabinet and only you will have the key I think they find them scary and rightly so I guess seeing as they can kill. My wife was dubious at first but she came around. The rest of it is easy the fire arms guy that came to see me is a nice as pie right country side chap and been in the game for years
  7. Yea I think thats what you need a dog that has a bit of common sense. Good to hit the cover because a dog will nail a lot of rabbits like that but you don't want one hitting it full whack. I all ways thought that was the idea of a good lurcher a dog that caught with brains and guile not just out right speed and a death wish
  8. Had a few as a kid with the ferret and as you say you can find them some times in holes in the tree low down. I found the first one by accident when my jr marked the a small hole in a tree. Right old bit of chuntering and out he popped
  9. Plenty of good ideas in this section for you http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/forum/72-living-off-the-land-game-cooking/
  10. Glad his back from what people say on here they do seem to have some sort of homing instinct which surprises me
  11. Superb great too see a little terrier pup like that born natural that one
  12. Sorry to hear that very unfortunate Horrible losing a dog especially one you have had from a pup and it is struck down in its prime when things are going well. But at least it was quick which is some thing and doing some thing it loved . The one I lost went into fits for 24 hours before I had to have him put down. Poor sod was curled up on my bed all night frothing at the mouth vet tried every thing
  13. Really enjoyed watching this much better than mountain men one where they ham up the acting way too much. I really hope my dog doesn't go out in the dark after that bear so I will just open the door and let my dog go out in the dark after that bear then stand in the window looking really really worried. Not that I need worry too much because my cabin has so many lights if the bear comes with in 300 yards he will get grilled to a crisp
  14. Thats dedication for you I love the feeling working in complete darkness though it never actually seems dark enough. I could never master it as a youngster never had the patience but now I have plenty Live stock is all ways a concern so upto date reconnaissance is vital or a call to the landowner if circumstances dictate
  15. Just test him on one first rather than do a few just in case
  16. I can't remember what I did yesterday so don't fancy my chances but I enjoy my food and tend to home in on any thing tasty
  17. I think this part is bang on catching bolters is handy but doesn't really matter or wouldn't bother me anyway. Rabbits rarely leave cover for more than a yard or two around here anyway. A nice little dog could peg a netted rabbit if needs be till you get a grip on it
  18. Good post here on the subject might be helpful for you http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/39280-help-needed-to-make-a-drop-net/
  19. Happy net making Bernie well worth it in the end
  20. Thank you I got there in the end
  21. I made this 13 meshes with a mesh size of 4.25 including the selvedge But my first net that I wasn't happy with so I didn't bother with selvedge and that was only 12 meshes and seems to catch nice any way But I think general opinion is 13-15
  22. so to calm her fears you told her your mate likes to use black tights when you got out shooting together
  23. But if there too baggy you trip over them and they get caught on things
  24. Jack Russel great nose very intelligent could not fault him
  25. I use a traditional net but I was lucky to have an hours tuition which gave me the basics I then just did plenty of day time drops for practice and the rest is learning as you go. Just need to take your time and prep is every thing. Make sure the net is stowed away so you can get it out easily with no chance of a stray mesh get hooked up on the pins or on a button on your coat. Make sure you know the ground your running the net out on because a single briar strand can cause havoc trust me But I love it and I have no urge to get a quick set I would recommend this book http://www.amazon.co.u
