Your right in what you say and nothing disheartens an owner as much as a pup marking when you not out ferreting and just walking the dog. It’s heart breaking and extremely frustrating but there you go. It’s that time of year now to be very selective where I walk. Going be long summer

Marking like a trooper at moment marking a squirrel here today not a hole in the tree to be seen so must been high up because exactly where she was looking Squirrel must had heating on for that thermal to pick it up

Deluded morons and there hobby is too ponce about making out they are important and talk drivel on fb about fluffy bunnies. Bet most eat chicken and dont go the ten quid free range one either but go for the good old 3 quid jobby and theres nothign wrong with that. But thats there argument dead in water

That was a tricky situation job to know what do for the best there between getting kicked or bit or both. Ali G had plenty padding on mind he could took a kick or two. That horse wont be a dog fan going forward

Only recently getting the pup jabbed they were trying to sell me all sorts. Heard the receptinist lady talking talking to her mate we need to get money in. Wages have to be paid I understand that. Few years ago the old boy with his lump on his leg . 150 test just to say well it looks like cancer but it might not be. Great. Give us a 1000 quid we can take the lump off and it might work and it might not. So was a no to that. Few years later his still here with his whooping lump. Looks terrible but his happy and not suffering that I know of any way.

Yes I noticed that strict too. But there general outlook on it all just seems so much better

Yes just saw that. I was 50 50 last year between a spiringer or lurcher pup. I went lurcher because here in wales the way the general licence is going and with potential changes in the gun licensing I reckon I will be able to do some thing with the lucher longer than the gun. If we suddenly have to pay £500 to renew with stricter applications I think that would be me out. BASC and the rest need to knock this straight back. No changes are needed you can't penalise thousands because the odd person flips

You are right they sure are lucky and even the duck shooting is out of this world

Yea saw that come up on my feed will be watching. Saw this too. Can you imagine good morning breakfast or what ever its called being so unbiased no ohhing and ahhhing and sarky coments

Enjoyed it this week thought it would be like watching paint dry but that Gaspar guy very interesting. Like the way he uses set fishing scales to measure draw weight on new bands then again after 200 shots and changes them if they have dropped below certain weight. Make little odds to me as I cant hit side of a bus from inside but interesting

Really funny you should mention this as only tonight walking my pup in the pissing rain she was panting away and she mostly does. Compared to the old bull cross who would only pant after a run and then not for long. But she is a busy dog and a wolly coat so think she just runs hot. That said she is such a cheerful sod I think shes just smiling lol
-
Soppy sods for sure unless there is some thing to catch then you can shove it lol

The trophy ban went through I see. Yet another loss to chalk up.

The trophy hunting was getting a whopping on the news this morning too. There was a conservationist lady on there defending it but she stood no chance. Even though she new her stuff. Not some thing I would ever want to do but I understand why some would. Its all doom and gloom now a days. But we will just keep on a going

Start on the bass soon. Hopefully get my first kill with the catty. Training the pup. I hate the heat but it is nice to get a bit of warmth after winter. Bit of pigeon shooting too on the stubbles

Great that mate. Fine dog too. When I started ferreting as a kid I never new about marking dogs. I got a terrier pup and didnt have a clue how it was going to work. Ferret grabbed him by snout when he was pup so that was him ferret broken lol. I took him in my pocket or a bag because he was too young and could only waddle few yards. Kept ferreting empty holes as per norm then one day ferret was gone a while and I saw the pup cock his head. Next minute a rabbit exploded out bolt hole right by him and he went after it. That sowed the seed. I can't rememer his age but not long after he was chasin
-
Yea his helpful fella and does some good dog training
-
Yea got few tips off air gun group one guy can see rabbits at eighty yards and showed me a rat at 30 which looked fine. Apparently brightness and contrast are the key. But in hind site should not bothered lol. All ways same buy cheap buy twice I should learnt by now
-
Your right Fred for me it’s the main thing. I can take or leave the rest of it. Most dogs will lamp to varying degrees but good day time hunting up and marking not so many.
-
Christ I had forgot how much fun the bushing is. I miss the days of the old JR in cover. 9 out of ten of my ferreting spots rabbits are on top in cover and the lurcher will have to work hard. But I can only have one dog and a lurcher gives me few other options

She started marking this weekend nice and stealthy made my day really flying along now. If she gets down wind of something goes into a sneak checking with me like a little team Likes the squirrels too and quiet as a mouse too even with squirrels bouncing around above her not a whimper I love being around her because apart from being a playful sod she makes it easy loves carrying stuff around so we keep that going to our advantage and I am In no rush to take stuff off her. So yea all good ?

I picked one up last week and so far its asolutly pointless. Now I now its bottom of the range etc with 6mm lense. But it can't see a pheasant day time 25 yards, Duck 10 yards and tonight it couldnt see any of the rabbits sat 30 yards away. In fact the only thing it does see is my bloody dog Now I didn't expect to ID much in the dark but I was hoping it could just tell me there was some thing there. In this video the guy can see a heat source on rabbits over 200 yards. I would be happy at a 100 . Wonder if there is some magical setting or maybe I should take the lense cap off. I know its onl
