    Wanted Lurcher Bitch Kelpie lurcher or lurcher to lurcher cross, can have some white on feet and chest but must be mostly black & tan, or Brown & tan, or blue & tan, raceing type, age 1 to 4 years must have had a season. size 22" to 25" Good home & cash waiting for right bitch, must get on with other dogs! No bull/lurcher types.

    I`m sure the Kelpie is a mix of Manchester and Collie already, I have seen a B&T Kelpie lurcher with the manchester pinch marks on the feet. a good fix for collie/ Lurcher feet, Terrier blood. I will go back to old B&T blood next , looking at B&T dog paintings around the 1800 you can see B&T dogs that look more like the B&T Kelpie x greyhound/whippet lurchers, than the MT of today.     Cant speaks volumes on dogs I havent tryed, but lets try and rate some which I have tryed over the years. Collie/greyhound : good for rabbits, but bad feet. 4 out of 10 Bedlington : rabbit and ratting to small really. 4 out of 10 Whippet : good for rabbets but short winded and a whiner . 5 out of 10 Greyhound/whippet : fast but a real puller and whiner. 4 out of 10 1/4Deerhour 3/4greyhound : good alround but big. 8 out of 10 whippet/saluki : good for what it was bred for hair dog 7 out of 10 saluki greyhound x bedlington whippet..Best so far 10 out of 10

    Have I got a clue..Lol Not all that blow the horn on here are Hunters, or know anything about dogs and geneoligy My dog is not a kc dog by a long way, if you look at the breeding..End of story.

    Yes it wont be as fast as todays racing whippets but doe`s it really need to be? no you asked what can a manchester terrier offer to a lurcher. Lets look at the long past years. why did dog breeders of years long now past, cross whippets to terriers or in this case manchester terriers , The Old English Black & Tan : fell terrier to whippets? for Agility , Good bone, Good feet, and stamina, or just to add speed to a working terrier, Both I would say. if we tryed looking back to the early whippets and asked our self whats really in this dogs make up.     I think your missing the point this is not a lurcher or whippet but a very smart 16" kc dog . I have owned 1, whippet and 1, whippet x greyhound over the years. The whippet was fast but a bit of a whiner and short winded really, the whippet x greyhound was a real boiler , super fast but god he was strong a nightmare on the lead, puller. never again stick with lurcher types.

    Well you can say this about all lurchers really , I wanted to breed a good worker which didn`t look like your average lurcher to the public. not really as other dogs that are crossed with greyhounds or whippets add something to the mix, what does a Manchester terrier add to the mix that the whippet doesn't have? not being argumentative, I'm just wondering. if you really want to see what a kc Manchester Terrier has to offer apart from its black & tan colour, try youtube : Manchester Terrier Agility . or obedience .     No your right I wouldn`t cross to a kc whippet but a nice working whippet cross or lurcher. you can say the above about most lurchers really , I have owned 1, whippet and 1, whippet x greyhound over the years. The whippet was fast but a bit of a whiner and short winded really, the whippet x greyhound was a real boiler , super fast but god he was strong a nightmare on the lead, puller. I wanted to breed a good worker which didn`t look like your average lurcher to the public, and which would walk to heel in the hunting field, until told to seek = abidient.     Hi Gerry, I crossed a kc manchester terrier over my lurcher some years back when they was talk of a hunting ban, I wanted to breed a good worker which didn`t look like your average lurcher to the public, my old lurcher was 21" saluki greyhound x bedlington whippet, truely the best lurcher mix I`ve ever had for hare rabbit and pheasant. Anyway from this cross I only had 2 pups both bitches, they both made 19" and would take rabbit and fox. a bit on the small size really, but very fast, smart and strong. I have only got a dog from this line left now as i lost my bitch to a munkjack. b
