  1. Was going to say dave gilmore but got beat to it, he's done some head melting.
  2. It's a great place to be, the fish can be hard to find on there that's why i don't mind naming it, them mountains have snow on them a lot of the time but what a place to spend time in, the village is like going back in time. Sometimes fish the river mainly for live bait's plenty of small browns and grayling also seen some big salmon in that river, the farmer's only charge a couple of £ to fish on there land aswell. That photo is a good'un mate, i haven't seen it that flat many times, it has waves like the beach sometimes, good luck and be carefull you don't bump in to teggie (bala's version
  3. where have you been fishing mate? Atb AT Don't like to name water's, but i fish chesire mainly, and a few places in wales, the only water i will name is bala lake and good luck on there mate, takes year's to get to know that place, good luck, just got to get out and do the hard work of finding them hotspots, wherever they are.
  4. I'm out tomorrow throwing lures about, so here's hoping, got plenty of savage gear four plays and other savage gear lures also plenty of other types, a big s usually get's a few snatches and iv'e got plenty of mark houghton custom jobs that have never got wet yet, so plenty to try, but i find pick just half a dozen and go through them other wise you are changing lures more than you are fishing, well we'll see what happens.
  5. Anyone been out pike fishing, iv'e been out a bit, most week's but nothing decent, plenty of jacks but the big girl's usually start showing from xmas onwards, just wandering if anyone has had anything a bit special, got myself on a new water and i know that the big one's are there, i just need to find them, here's hoping.
  6. So you could use a whip, hope my bird let's me borrow her's for the day. ps. a whip would suit me better than a pole, be a lot easier for me, and a lot less kit.
  7. The country is a boil/abcess and needs to be lanced or even let it burst, it will burst but when, what will it take
  8. Can't beat them boxes, everything is on them but you forget to get out.
  9. American sniper is supposed to be a cracker, i'm watching it in the morning when everyone is out, unless i go fishing.
  10. Depends on your mood a lot of the time, sometimes you want to rock, sometimes you end up with a tear in your eye, just enjoy it.
  11. Shine on you crazy diamond/pink floyd, wish you were here is also close.
  12. Catching livebaits match , should be good, my 3lb test curves will have to stay at home
  13. Feel sorry for the young lad, your dad/parents are your whole world when young, plus to do that at 28, fcuk me must of had some serious problems but you never hear of anyone dying and people saying " they were only a prick anyway" so like i said sorry for family but you know what he was really like, all you can do is be there for when your needed.
  14. Never mind the tea, there should be the best brothel in the world up there, with super model brasses.
  15. Sounds like another great few days, i always miss the comps, will try harder this year.
  16. I used to fish the welsh dee a fair bit, keep meaning to get back at it, anyway i used to do well on spider type pattern's,stick fly's, pheasant tail nymph's and a brown sedge pattern that there was a lot of on the river so i decided to copy it to the best i could, was over the moon with the results of making up my own fly, big brown dubbed body with brown and white mottled wings(female pheasant feather).Great river to fish, i fished the bala angler stretches, i'm sure there is a record in that river, especially in the salmon pools, some good trout fishing aswell, mainly small stuff with the od
  17. Sometimes the scruffiest fly in the box just seem's to do the business, i've been tying zig bug's for carp fishing last summer and was really surprised how they were working, worth a try on a dead drift aslong as you keep in touch with the fly.
  18. I'm surprised a fly tyer has'nt been on for these, i'm ok myself and don't do much tying at the moment (terrible i know), i'm sure someone should want them, good luck.
  19. I keep meaning to have a trip to lakemore, is it as good as it look's becca.
  20. It's surprising what's in a salmon pool, i used to target grayling in salmon pool's, ( i won't say which river) i done very well trotting a small worm through a pool or even fly fishing them with a stick fly.I have'nt fished a river for over 8 year's now, (since dad died) my youngest son has asked me to take him this year, maybe it's about time i got back on the river's, i only ever fished river's with my dad, was'nt done with purpose, just the way it turned out, maybe it's my turn to educate my lad's how my dad educated me, they have fished canals and stillwater's, but only my eldest son has
  21. Try an get someone with a bit of experience to take you out and ask why for everything he tells you, if he picks a swim, ask why this one, if he say's cast to a certain place, ask him why and you should start to understand fish behaviour, good luck.
  22. That drilled bullet method is a great way of searching the deep pools, even when it comes in close to your bank leave it for a few minutes, you never know if one has followed it in, good luck.
  23. I nearly told you about the salmon parr,
