What would everyones preferd load be then to "deter" intruders? -
Mines a silhoutte with nickel barrel and black synth stock. Smart looking tool. And the nickel has a sort of matt coating to it so it doesnt glare in the sun

If you do get a CZ, get a trigger kit for it also. Makes a world of difference to the pull

CZ 452 is what I currently have in .22lr. Brilliant little rifle for the money. Was told to give semi auto rugers a miss as your get more feed issues with them over a bolt action?

Needing some advice on which rimmy?
RobertoS86 replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The HMR shoots flatter and is FRACTIONALLY more accurate than the WMR, but the WMR in 30g V-Max is very flat and accurate and carries approx 70ft lb more out of the barrel than the HMR, so that maybe 3-5mm difference in accuracy at 100 yards is more than made up by calibre size and energy! As for a prehistoric looking round , what do you think the HMR is based on, and talk prehistoric, when did you last look at a .22 Hornet Cartridge, but what have looks got to do with anything? alot actually. the shape and surface finnish of a round is important to its accuracy. .22lr rounds -
Needing some advice on which rimmy?
RobertoS86 replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Firstly, thanks for the input guys. been an interesting read especially for that price list Paulus I'm talking about 100-150 yrd range atm. Very hard to get anywhere close to them as its very open and they are very skittish, very lamp shy also (as i think) has been poached heavily in the past . Have thort of just getting a Pulsar night sight for the rimmy but come the summer im going to be back at square one so im wanting the extra range and punch. Also come the spring there will be the chance of fox work too -
Hi, so I currently have a CZ 452 .22 but I'm after something with a bit more range. So I've thort about a .17 hmr but also a .22 wmr. But I'm not sure on what to get? It will be used for bunny bashing but I'm also doing a lot of hare at the moment. Whats the lowest calibre center fire and do you think I could get it granted for my current quarry? Cheers, Rob

Had a canny day on Sunday, got some pigeon, some woodcock and a sh*t load of crows. Not on the decoys through the day, but early morning and last light. Brilliant fun

@ratsmasher There is no shoot on the land so I think it would be fine to try a bit, thanks for that Cheers Phil, hopefully I will

RobertoS86 replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns

I have a semi auto 12g granted on my FAC, but am I only allowed to hold one or can I buy another?
-
Safe to say lads I got nout, so going back up on Sunday morning before first light to try again. And yes, i was asked to do that field as its beenn getting hit badly.

Cheers mate, just had 2 fly in behind me, so hopefully they will start to show soon

So as I write this I'm sat in a field of young rape. Hide up, decoys out in the usual shape considering wind direction and I haven't seen a pigeon all morning I have set up where the farmer wants me but havnt seen a sausage. There is a bird scatter machine further up the field which I have turned off. I'm pretty much shooting a field I've never done before so don't know the flight lines. I am on the edge of a wood with the sun in front of me so I'm nice and concealed. The ground is rock hard with frost mind, could this be the reason why there is no pigeon feeding?

What if it turns on live stock when it doesn't know better, just keeps running or heads for another permission? I always run mine with on only as a last resort. Better to be safe than sorry... IMO, good collar non the less! Glwts

Thanks for that J.D, I know mate, I done the same as you for many months before I got my current one. I wrote and visited 42 farms before I got lucky. I am grateful for what I have but like I say I would'nt mind progressing on to a bigger challange :/

Yes, my mate who is also on here has a copy, I will tell him of your thread

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help. I currently have a permission in Durham which I have basically done what I was asked and that was to take care of a rabbit problem. its getting very hard to get anything now. Wasting my time more than anything else going up there as there's not much left to shoot. Also, the person who I shoot for doesn't seem to keen on me wanting to shoot pigeon as he has a livery yard and it spooks the horses to much which is fully understandable but not great for me as I'm wanting to progress. So the long and short of it is I'm on the look out for a new one. I'

the mans a C**T! he has obviously been waiting for the right time to do this. now the team is doing well and there is a good harmony within the club, he thinks the fans wont risk protests or kick up a fuss so not to spoil the good atmophere at the minute. i wish some one else would buy it from him, he is literally chucking history down the drain!
