    Yes, head on over to the UK Labrador forums and you will see some amazing working Labs, you wouldn't buy a whippet you want to work from a pet breeder, no one would and it's the same with every working dog type. There is no harm in them going to pet homes at all, the border collie is now everywhere, my pack stands at four, three working and one rescued pet and you can pick out the pet in a second. http://www.flickr.com/photos/learnin_curve/5776293397/

    He is agreeing with you both. Give the runts to pet homes, if you are worried make sure they go to homes that will spay/neuter them, without a pedigree (even if they are ped, you don't have to register them or hand over paperwork) most pet owners don't want to breed anyway and even if they do then you all know damn well no one who works dogs will want them. Also seems odd that you have at thread on this forum where someone just mated full brother and sister and no one openly batted an eye or posted negatively about it and people are in this one worrying about genetic abnormalities from br

    Wow. I only have experience with breeding border collies but still, wow. Every single one of our best bitches has always been the runt, the 16 month old I have now is the runt, she thrived on solid food and away from the litter. Now she is just as big and twice as clever as the rest of them. You don't know what will be weak or useless until they have had chance to let them catch up "away from tit" as my granddad would say.     He just had his first success. I'm so proud. Cat was under the bed waiting for me to depart so he could try and eat the hamster, sent the pup under it and told him to sit a few feet in, he sat there barking at the cat who looked at me like like "that thing is 1/3 my size" and ran away, I then called the pup back. Crate training is going well, he finally got the message and stopped howling after 5 mins and is now happy to go in there.

    Took Bonzo a while to stop clinging to me but he's bold as brass now, very clever little thing as well he worked out in a few hours that if he sat between my feet in the kitchen then the big bouncy dog wouldn't come near him. Now he's found the spot under the table that he can leap out at her from and if she tries to get him back she bangs her head. Still not learned his name but Kev taught them to come on command by putting his hand down to the floor and he remembers it.     When did he pick the pup up? I picked up mine on Friday the 4th and it would be interesting to know how a couple of the ones I didn't pick turns out. The other big black and white one was a feisty stubborn little begger and the non-reserved silvery pup was quite nervy when picked him up so it would be interesting to see how they progress. edit: Bonzo is fantastic with his toileting, he goes outside whenever he is let out and if he can't wait then he dashes to the newspaper and only goes on there, I suspect that's entirely down to how Kev kept the pen so clean, he was the least smelly pup I

    Kev's whippet bitch is unbelievably stunning, even after pups her condition is fantastic and her temperament is amazing. I've never seen a bitch still so devoted to her pups at 7 weeks, she had to be shooed out of the pen with pups still attached (no milk though) and hid behind the sofa watching what I was doing, then as soon as we left the room she jumped right back in with them.

    Thank you for the link, I feel for his breeder, he mated her with another pedigree whippet only to have her jumped by her son's dog as well and they came out All Wrong. 9 dogs, no bitches an all.

    Hello there, thought I would stop lurking and introduce you to Bonzo (dog doo-dah band) although have a feeling that a couple of you may know him already Bonzo (dog doh-dah band) again He's greyhound/Saluki x whippet and will be trained up and worked by a friend of mine when he's older than his 7 weeks on this world. His chart (yup another one descended from Lucky the dark destroyer) any information you could give me on his relations would be most helpful, his whippet side in particular.
