I have tried a new battery this morning and it's still the same, looks like a faulty one. Cheers for the replies folks.

No, fine and clear. I've been out again and tried it in all modes but the only thing it will pick up is the car at the end of the street. Must be a faulty one

I've just bought one of these and either they are rubbish or this one has a fault. I can range on a couple of cars in the street but nothing else, not even a garage. I thought maybe there might be interference from something so took it to a local park. It wont find trees, signs, cars, telegraph poles, in fact anything. Am I doing something stupidly wrong, I'm following the instruction given in the manual, or does it sound faulty? Cheers Mark
