  2. I must admitt I do enjoy a craic...and a tinny when out with pals in the Landy.................... however..... its more deep rooted than that for me.........cos Im just as happy stuck in a middle of a field a night on me jack-jones............... company dosn't other me when I'm out for a run.......... even though I am a social kinda fella
  3. We all love our lurchers and I suppose are passionate about it to varying degrees .................... funny though......but no-one ever talks about why........................ and where they got their interest from. Here's you chance to tell us 'what does it' of you..... for instance ...... is the the thrill of the chase? the outwitting of nature with a animal you've bred and trained? is it the attraction of the great outdoors? the whip of slip and anticipation of a catch under lamp light? the primeval instinct to hunt and gather? the freedom and tranquili

  6. arrrh.............. so you think my instinctive violent impulses were well justified scent!!!!!!!!!!!!? Honestly....... manners cost nothing at all.......and talking is the most basic fundamental act we can do..........Never mind Neil Cooneys remarks about being pissed off with everyone asking.............................. He perhaps should of thought about that before he embarked on a carreer that would put in slap bang in the public eye........ This prick got rich.............off people like me, who bought his old vids....and watched his programmes, I suppose thats what makes it
  7. That sounds like the opening of a Slim Shady song Neil.....Dear John,I will be your biggest fan.....PS,we should be together too" Old JW was probably terrified that paul was going to get him pregnant and drive off a bridge with him trapped in the boot Learn a lesson from it paul, dont be in awe of a guy just because he fishes and is on TV,he still s**ts,burps, and farts just like everyone else He fishes some of the waters we fish, though oddly enough I havent seen him when I visit hahahahahaha my names stan an dIm your biggest fan.... he still a dick though............
  8. John Wilson - as a lad i was in ore of this man. Go fishing...all the VHS videos........the boyish chuckle ....when he arced into a good fish............to me - he was the man was a fishing legend Unfortunately this illusion was recently shattered when I bumped into him some time ago in a fishing tackle shop somewhere in deepest norfolk...shire!... Not wanting to make a big deal, I casually walked up, and picked up a controller float from the box next to him........ "hello John" I said........a grunt was forthcoming.........abit taken back I thought he mustn't have heard me...........
  9. If your on rabbit permission................the only damage they're gonna do is to you bunny reserves....... I doubt if the land owner would be too happy to find you shooting his 'other pest controllers'.............. Watching a family stoats play in a meadow in the summer is really nice to see................Im please you weren't tempted with a cheeky shot in a moment of madness!!!!! Under the giuse of pest control....shoot the pest!!!!!! Yours in sport Paul

  13. I agree John, can you not wait a couple more months? It seems that the new chavvy generation of running dog entusiasts seem to apply the same lack of respect & thought as they do in their daily lives beating up old ladies and accruing ASBO's............... If you get the impression that running summertime 'larger quarry' is not qute 'cricket' ........then your learning..... dont respond with gobshite argumentative comments.......take it on the chin......and think in future!!!!!!!!!!! Our sport suffers enough bad press........................................ just take a' s
  14. In terms of basic training all you relaly need is good recall, retireving and jumping..... You clearly have a common sence approcah to training dogs through your terrier experience,, otherwise you wouldnt have managed the above!..... at six months she physically maybe able to catch the odd rabbit, but I woudl hold her off abit........perhaps back end of summer when Mixy hits ..........give her a couple of slips on easy squatters....this will give er confidence. If she has to overstrech as a pup to catch...and fails.....she'll soon teach herself not to bother!!!!.......and either j
  15. wasp grubs are superb baits for big Chub........... I have even used the honeycomb linning of the wasp nest ...... free lined on to 6 lb line strait though to a 10 hook and caught chub of the top............. How do you intend to sudue the wasps once you find a nest?

  20. One has to remember that a dog has puppy mentality until a t least 14 months.........even though it may have the physical attributes to catch rabbits at 7-8 months........ My advise would be one the basic training is going well, then slow and steady introduction is the key....I have had pups of 6-7 months out on a lead watching experienced dogs lamp and work....this is the best way to bring them on.........and circa 10 -11 months then let them has a dropper or easy slip on a mixy rabbit....this will boost their confidence....if you run them on hard rabbits too early, they can starty op
  21. could have been alot lot worse as you say....................................... should heal up lovely though in no time....just keep em clean...plenty of woulnd poweder and anticeptic.......an anydeeper than 3 mill could do with a stich or butterfly... all the best
  22. as someone mentioned walk the pup in a place where it's seeing plenty of scuts........let them chase...grow....find their footing, all the time drilling in the basic commands...recall and retrieiving.............. nothing wrong with letting the pup see how experienced dogs work..(now and then)....but keep them on the lead................ I like back end of summer for pups development when mixy hits..........and they can get numerous easy squatters and short runners....... Easy catches will help them not to get too fustrated and start sounding...... All in good time..........
  23. I dont think anyone in their right mind would ferret at night................ unless it was on a flood lit field or embankment
  24. best of luck............. she looks useful.
