  4. I have been trying to trace back the parentage and exact breeding of my bitch and her litter mate owned by my cousin.......as I have lost contact with the breeder. Now I have come across an old 'waffling'email that was sent to me by the the breeder, and wondered if anyone could furnish me with any further info on the dogs mentioned .......... I only have this guys word for it, so any validation or info would be gratefully recieved The breeder was Don Smith of Tinsdley. The sire was a dog called Zip, who was bred in Cumbria out of a dog called Tig. Tig was bred out of a half c
  5. not entirely sure...but a couple of members seem to have ceased posting for some strange reason
  6. you have just read my mind sock..................also...does the heart (as a amuscle double up to compensate for the extra work)...or is it normal...if so..I woulod imagine the heart in under unimaginable strain.....and likely to cause a heart attack
  7. Good on you Ian - either way I would have respected your decision. I started to miss all you lot Any way ...... out with the old and in the with the new:- I am feeling the lurve tonight my brothers...................................can-I- get an ALLELUHLIA

  11. ...............nice bags there cus................I was badly, and pissed up on Corona last night - and missed a good night by the looks a things ol stiggy's doing the business.......and to all those who recon the bull x is no rabbit dog.......believe me, I've know this dog persoanlly from 8 weeks old to four years old...and its one on the quickest things I have seen on four legs. That picture dosn't do him justice...heres one of him last year Thanks for scutts bud see ya over the weekend
  12. very hard mate...but when I considered I would work him duirng the shooting season...and nick would work him daily.....the answer was simple.... the knippers still talk about him, and I get regular updates on his progress....its totally different trainign gun dogs to lurchers.....bloody hard..with some testing times...but very rewarding when you see the hours you put in pay off!!!!!
  13. heres Harvey....my ess I got and trained to working standard...a great dog he made. I had a freind of a friend was pest controller for the forestry commision whos dog got poisoned and died... This left him without a work colleague so I decide to let him go after him after much deliberation, to spend his life; working every day. Its was a hard decision, and I miss him dearly...but he's getting constant gratf -- whatta life for a springer!!
  14. thats becasue there isn't one mate.... for me it all depends on the i..weather and distance the scutts are from cover. I do like to see a good long run and the lighter faster types will be up and at em before they even no whats happeneing...in still conditions there no point slipping on bunnies your dogs got no chance of cathing. With experiebce comes a sixth sence of when to slip....and this can vary imensley IMO
  15. well done mark............those dogs of yours have certainly seen some work this year...........and are fit as could be...good look in the rest of the comp buddy
  16. feck me ....how many fingers do they have between em????? LOL good haul
  17. what a superb racey looking animal....my kinda dog is that... hows is the basic trainng coming on..recall..retrieiving etc.....? get these in place first..... a eight months he'l benefit from watching experienced dogs work.....................and putting him on the odd squatter a the end of the night will do no harm...... steady introduction.............................. good look..he's going to be a cracker me thinks
  18. most dogs will chase rabbits........most dogs will catch one now and then......but Im a firm believer of having the right tool for the job................. have a go with your girl friends dog..........see how you get on..'why not'
  19. first of all kennel him...then he can chew his back wheels off. if you want to stock brake him...walk him on a lead through a sheep pen..........when he starts to get excited..give him a good clout..........keep repeating this until, until he shows no interest...could take a while, but he should be young enough to learn. sound like hes got bags of drive.....could be chewing out of bordum, of because he's wired up, fustrated and wants to be on. What do you intend doing with him???????
  20. not knocking you at all for taking on the dog, but perhaps you should have looked abit more into the dogs temprement before you deicded to home it. The dog is clearly the result of a pointless accidental mating, which has resulted in a dog that has practically no use whatsoever................and a fear of humans....... you could settle it with time and patients, but sounds like an accident waitng to happen.........shame for the dog, but I think it would be better to have it pts.........think what a dog that size could do to a kid
  21. looks really mature for 6 months.....loadsa knuckle left in him yet.. hope he makes the grade for you
  22. ps...the big fella looks wel...a strong type...good luck with him
