  1. Going back to the start subject. Buy yourself a few flat pack mole trap barrels. Tune the triggers a little (they will put instructions in box) These traps are the best barrels you can get imho. I love mole catching and use a lot of different traps including Talpex Trapline Nomole Fenn and Duffas My first choice is duffas or Talpex
  2. As mentioned above I have caught field mive and even a stoat in my mole traps before. Could have been a moles resting spot or a mouse nest. I have started picking up double catches the past 2 weeks so they are on the move, Could be due to being flooded out from lower ground but every thing seems to be early again this year. Treated two black ant nests last week!
  3. Need to no how bad the mole numbers are first, If its a nice size get it on contract. Mole contracts are nices as you tend not to have to put much work in throughout the summer but get work for the guys in the winter
  4. If your ticket states you can use the rifle on foxes with no mention to distance or circumstance then they wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court. They are not going to waste 1,000s of pounds of their budget for a case of this type. IMHO the .22lr should only be used at very close range or for dispatching a trapped fox, although if the bullet is placed right the caliber will kill a fox cleanly. The hmr is the same really, however does drop foxes better than the 22lr. As for people saying the 22 wmr isn't man enough is frankly silly, I have not taken many with my rifle as yet but I h
  5. I have a 243 but I'm pretty sure the local police would prefer for me to shoot in small back gardens as a professional with a .22 wmr or such like! Think the 243 is a bit of an over kill at 25 yards. I have on my ticket under the rimfires that it may be used to dispatch foxes, I have been using the 40gr cci maxi mag (as it was all I could get) then switched to the 25gr and 30gr hornady ntx and vmax rounds of which my rifle likes the 30gr vmax best. I zeroed at 40 yards and that it also then zeroed at 140 yards, Grouping was similar to the hmr with the vmax rounds but was fairly shockin
  6. I use these alot and I have found a rear leg off a rabbit cable tied to the plastic "T" shaped connector is best and I have also been freezing the rabbits bladders when gutting and placing them under the collarum to thore out! Seems to have helped!
  7. I have just brought a Ruger all weather .22wmr, I have a .17hmr and a .22lr also but wanted a bit more stopping power for foxes than the .17hmr. Now i have been using the 22wmr Im not sure i will ever use the 17hmr again! I love it, the only trouble it getting hold of the rounds local to me as nobody holds them as stock! Grr. Do any of you guy still use the wmr?
  8. I have been using the touch and tuff from killgerm! Not for the weather or stopping the scent of my hands! feed up with a muddy steering wheel and paper work lol They have been ok, they don't rip to easy
  9. I'm as tight as a crabs arse but i shelled out for it and found it great value for money! I do a lot of trapping in general, i'm now doing a lot more snaring! Its a great DVD, As Matt said to me " if you want to see hundereds of animals caught this is't the DVD for you, if you want to lern about snaring then it is" This DVD is not full of blood and guts or a bunch of people after braggin rights, its just an informative dvd
  10. I find it hard to belive that KG would piss you about like that? They are picky when it come to pro use only products as they should be but you wouldn't have any trouble ordering traps? I know many people that buy traps from KG that have no paperwork. Odd!
  11. They are both good, I have 7 of the sx fox cages and 3 collarums, catch well in the cages however don't often catch adult dog foxes in them! That's when the collarum comes in handy. And you don't have to worry about non-tagets as much!
  12. Hi All, I'm looking for a hob, Ideally a silver or a poley Doesn't have to work Must be hand tame or young enough to tame. happy to travel upto 30 miles from RG41 Dean
  13. Thats it. Just depends from ground to ground.
  14. The ones im ferreting tomorrow are in Highclere on open grass land. Hardly any rabbits about though.
  15. The ones in ferreting tomorrow are Thatcham on open grass land. Hardly any rabbits about though
  16. How's the ferreting going? In the south (Berkshire area) the rabbit numbers seem very very low? I usually have farmers calling up left right and center this time of year to try and get me ferreting but so far only a handful off calls. The have all said there haven't been many rabbits about this year but they also said there wasn't much Myxomatosis! I have my first day booked in for tomorrow as it's ment to be chilly. But don't hold out much hope for more that 50 to be honest and that's from a 3,000 acre farm! I havn't seen many rabbits on any of our contracts from garden centres, gol
  17. What would the head count be on a farm that size - 300 to 350? Varies a lot but usually take 100-150 3 times per year from a local 470 acre farm, and there is another that is 750 acres and we only catch 20-40 3 times a year! Depends if the ground is controlled near by and what the area's mole population is! There is a 120 acre farm in finchampstead that we cleared moles the first clearance and have only caught around 10 per clearance there after!
  18. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Flat Pack do make nice traps but for me its the Talpex every time
  19. There are some on a farm a few miles from me near Stratfield Mortimer! Going to cause trouble in a few years!
  20. I'd go with the quote above! Stick a collarum or two down. I bet you'll catch it within a week
  21. The large commercial farms are charged on a per visit basis and some of the large farms we cover I have 2 even 3 people would and charge £20 per hour per person. Most farms upto 250acres will be cleared in 5-7 visits for two people, charged at approx £750-£900
