  1. Generally speaking, if you have a warren in a hedgerow or directly under a fence, then netting it all should be okay, as long as you are not making a mess, loads of noise etc. If the warren is clearly in their field, just go knock on the land owners door, explain you do next door and can you do that warren. You never know, they may let you do all of it! As for common ground, I believe you can ferret it, the same way you can graze or forage it. Atb, BB
  2. Bit off topic lads, but can ye gimme a text Bry? Lost ya number when my phone reset. PM on here doesn't seem to want to work.
  3. We're off out too. Touch wood its busy!
  4. Its not gunna be until after new years now mate. Send me a pm with your number and I'll drop you a text.
  5. Live in Kidlington mate, but Sunday is no good. Gimme a shout between christmas and new year.
  6. Absolutely amazing product. I'm local to compoundarcher so went to try before I buy, and other torches just dont compare (plus he has a house full of them...). The range is brilliant and the beam tight, the weight is good and the tactical mount is quick and easy to use. Massive benefit is also that you can carry a few spare batteries in your pocket, no car battery needed for these! I owned my torch for all of 2 hours (drove home and got set up) and I soon had a fox dead at my feet. Would 100% recommend. Best bit of equipment I could buy. Top notch. Very happy.
  7. Is there a similar marking on the other barrel? I know some gun companies use stars and symbols to mark the permanent choke of that barrel.
  8. I managed to get a mate out last night to shoot a bit of permo I got yesterday and he had an ace time. Shot 36 in 3 hours. Had a good spree from one corner of a field where we walked through a gate. Flat on my belly, 16 rounds rattled off and 14 bunnies dropped in about 4 minutes. Masacre. Needless to say I'll be going back there.
  9. I'm tired of people letting me down and only ever making effort when it suits them, so an open offer. I have one mate who comes from South Wales, but we have to pre-arrange so we can both get out and it has to be a few hours to make the travel worth it. I want someone local so we can just gear up and get out for a few hours when the weather is decent. Honest, respectful and sensible people only need apply. If you think you know best, this position probably isn't for you. Time wasters and oxygen stealers need not apply either.
  10. Shotgun will still do the job. You would be surprised at the confined spaces you can use a .410. Have you ruled out purse nets or dogs?
  11. Try a shotgun? Designed for hitting stuff on the move and all that...
  12. My missus puts mine on pretty tight. Its got a leash too. And a short one at that! Kinky bitch.
  13. Knock on doors. Be polite. Dress reasonable. Ask don't demand. Introduce yourself from Hello. Try being insured. Take the ferrets to say hi. Offer to take them with you. Offer a portion of the bag. Take cards with name and number on. Innocent and genuine men don't lie. Its not an art to get permission, it's manners. ATB, BB
  14. I can weigh mine later for you. I would imagine a couple hundred grams.
  15. Just for the record... NEVER fire any proper rifle into the air period and that includes bushes, trees, wall top etc, in fact anywhere you do not have a verifiable background behind the object that acts as a proper safe bullet stop. I believe from memory an elevated .22 LR round is dangerous to a range of 1.5 MILES (it's usually printed on the boxes). (When elevated it a bullet follows a parabolic curve and with the right angle of elevation that becomes the max range for .22 LR)!!!!) Centre-fire is considerably more dangerous, from memory I've seen warnings of 3 miles or more!
  16. They're called "Micros" and I personally won't believe the nonsense that some people bat around on here. Although there is some good talk of ferret lines and ancesteory, alot of the people on here have a degree in ferret keeping that they printed off the internet. Ferrets are like any other animal. Some grow big (If you listen to those who believe it, and I'm not saying they're wrong, they're likely to be European Polecats) and some don't grow so much (micro ferrets). The same in humans... As for weights, I've never weighed a ferret, so pass! As long as it works, I don't care much for
  17. FEO's dont always just have firearms to deal with. Sometimes they have other roles at the station, so can take months. Others just have lots of work so can take months. Some have a shit admin process and so take months. Some are well oiled and take days. My FEO was around in days and my certs where in a few days after I had to sort out a blip with my land owners. Very fast. Its all luck of the draw.
  18. No argument in principle with that, but for the difference it makes at .22lr hunting distances the debate isn't worth the ink! While the difference may be minimal, unless you have an advantage to shortening the barrel, such as only ever shooting from a vehicle, then its a waste of time, money and a small amount of accuracy for no benefit. I guess what I am saying is not that you wont hit anything, but that you only need cut the barrel if it serves a purpose.
  19. Remember though guys. Barrels are made long for accuracy. Cutting them down is great for shooting from a tight spot, but if you dont need to, i wouldn't cut an inch off. You find tighter groups, better zero'ing and better long shots. If the barrel wasnt designed to be long, it wouldn't be...
  20. http://www.newatlanticonline.co.uk/products/shooting-and-country-sports/shotgun-cartridges-and-cabinets/shotgun-cartridges/rc-jk6-t3-20g-cartridges-26g-6-shot-25.html For a 20g shotgun.
  21. I think you can get 24g 6 1/2's. Depends on your gun shop. But as said, a 20 would work well too. 26g might be a bit more common.
