  1. I shoot mag techs through my mod 2. Really good groupings. Not personally tried the cci, but I know my rounds cost me £6.90 per 100. Remember though, the same make rifle will shoot rounds differently. Each rifle is unique, so grab a few boxes of everything, go paper punching, and work out which shoots the best for you then stick to them. A round that hits but costs slightly more, is better than a cheap round that takes several shots to shoot a rabbit.
  2. The ground is a funny thing. Lay on it in the winter and it will sap the heat straight from you. Put something a few inches under it in freezing conditions, and its a good insulator. Its likely to be that the ground, and the surface of the "puddle" in the entrance hole will freeze, but the water in the warren itself isn't likely to. Much like a puddle on tarmac. Rabbits are likely to be using alot of hedgerow cover at the moment (mine are all in the cotswold dry stone walls) as nearly all of the warrens on my land are underwater and the ground is waterlogged/1-2 inches underwater. Im suprised
  3. Only time my zero was off after putting the mod on was when I had pieced the baffles back into the sleeve wrong. It wasn't muffling the sound properly either. Came to the conclusion it was possibly the round hitting the baffles. Sorted it all out, gave it a clean and screwed the mod back on and my zero was perfect again.
  4. You can do a masters and be Dr. Ferret. Alternatively, if you have the reanimated corpse of several ferrets body parts sown together, you can be Dr Ferretstein.
  5. It's because he trains his Mink using Falconry techniques. I'm with you on it though TOMO. Oh I see... Cheers for that,, I still hate it..... In one of his posts, he does mention he regrets his name and thinks it should be minkery, not minkENry.
  6. "The guy who has ferrets" Noun; in a sentence; Dave: "We've got loads of rabbits in the field." Betty: "Why don't you ring the guy who has ferrets?"
  7. Had a few offers, but most are quite far away. Weather is too crap atm to actually get out though.
  8. Younger than you! But then thats not hard! I'm young, fit, healthy, and work to earn my money too! Can I get some free gear?
  9. Have you tried putting new batteries into all of your equipment? This does make a difference. And I think you can recalibrate them. I believe Foxtails (might be someone else) on here does them, but that may only be Mk1 boxes.
  10. Thank you sir. Had a few minutes on my hands so hope it helps the OP. Probably a bit too much information but people can always pick and choose what they want to read from it. As it came from the police I'm pretty confident as to the accuracy of the content - nothing worse than people presenting their opinions or thoughts as facts and others being misled as a result. Well I learned something new! I knew about the ammo and purchasing of firearms/SG's being 18+, but was honestly led by my FEO that SGC's were 13+ and FAC's were 18+. Maybe it's a rule of thumb? As you described, there are sti
  11. FAC is 18. Im 19 too bud. Got mine easily. Fairly certain SGC is 13, you just can't buy a shotgun until 18, but can be gifted.
  12. Wind and Rain.... Good for ducks? Yeah. Duck, theres a tree getting blown over! F**king Weather.

it's lashed it down here all day

  13. Ferrets are like people. Some are bubbly, some are calm, some are aggressive, some are slow, some are fast, and especially like people, some are massive c**ts. Its personality, and at 8 months, he's still immature. As long as he isn't biting, I would leave him be as long as he is happy... Atb, BB
  14. I personally don't do alot of snaring, but I do know there is alot of legislation behind it. There are people on here who will give more info, but they must be free running and I'm fairly certain that bailing twine won't have this effect...
  15. I have a .17 on my ticket, but no space in the cabinet! I'll be looking at fitting a bigger cabinet in the future!
  16. Sorry man! Had quite a few PM's and need to get back to most of them!
  17. I walk nearly all of my permo! Ahah. I have a BRNO mod 2E in .22. Nikko stirling scope, sak mod and a cree scope mounted lamp.
  18. If you are in doubt, and have the option to play safe with another Hob, why take the risk? Or get him snipped and then theres no issue either.
  19. I actually live in the Kidlington area and shoot near Carterton. I can easily travel to Harwell if you fancy a night out.
  20. Borders are a difficult one, even whe not on a road side. I tend to treat it as long as the warren is partially on your land, do the whole warren, but no further. If you know where the farm is/owner is, then by all means, go ask for clarification, you never know they may give you the rest of the land as well. As for the road side, I would crack on, as long as you're respectful and clean, and not running round like lunatics causing chaos on the roads, you'll be fine. As I said above, stick a high vis on and nobody will question that you shouldn't be there.
  21. Crack on. Long net the road so they can't bolt across it, use an easily visible ferret, i.e white, collar them up. Stand road side to prevent it wondering out or designate a spotter who is only allowed to stop the ferret wandering on the road and not actually do any rabbit killing if its really close. Also, I would stick a high vis jacket on. Nobody ever queries someone who looks like they should be there. Atb, Bb
  22. Some is allowed shotguns, but the amount of birds isn't high. The rabbit numbers are huge though.
