Depends how far you want to travel mate. I might end up with a bit of permission up near Leicester/Tamworth area soon. It's my mates area tbh, but we go out together. Unless you're willing to travel to Oxford. Should be able to show you a good day out, and show you the basics of ferreting. Atb, Bunny

Shit trays are a must. Makes life so much easier to clean out. If you wax them too, then there is no issue with staining or smell. Easiest way to do it is use an old saucepan, pot or other metal container, heat a few candles then paint the wood with an old brush. Then in the tray, lay a thin layer of shavings. Alternatively, if they only crap in one corner, buy TWO cat litter trays, screw one to the floor of the hutch where they shit. Place the other one inside the screwed down one (stops them pushing it around) and all you have to do is remove the top tray, bang it on the side of your wheelie

Bigger the better. How much room you willing to donate? Honestly, instead of saying it in Dimensions, go into your garden, where are you putting them and how much room are you willing to give them, then build it to that. Just think. Would you rather have a small 1 bedroom flat or a huge mansion with plenty of room for extras?

These things wouldn't go a miss. Bigger cages, as you would expect are better cages. Make rooms, that way you can separate you the cage up into different things as well. At one end, have a "bedroom", which should be out of the wind and warmer (I have old cut up bits of clothes, socks cut open, t-shirts etc. Which can be washed and dried easily. If you have two lots, you just rotate it, one washing, one being used), the other end, as far from the bedroom should be the toilet, make it open as possible to "air". Also, if you use trays, it makes cleaning out the cage alot easier, as you remove the

Mate, the best way isn't to post here once or twice daily, It'll see you shot down in flames. Find someone offering to take you out, there are plenty on the website. -
Also sent you a PM mate.

Where you based mate?

It was Pete. He admits it in his name. Case solved.

Are they fighting or just dragging each other about? If there is a ferret with broken skin, I suggest you assess how bad. If it looks like it's being bullied, remove the bully, if it's just over the top messing around, then leave them. They're pack animals remember. They have a pecking order. One dominant jill who will be the very motherly one when there are kits around, and the top hob, who rules the group. They may just be sorting the order. If they all sleep together, its more likely to be pecking order. If one is socially rejected, then they've decided the order and he is the runt. Hop

Feeling a ferrets tits eh? Sounds kinky And they're right. My jills mother in the same nest. 2 litters and they treat each other like kits too. One is more motherly than the other, but they still both do it. They even drag my hob back in, and he's HUGE. Atb, Bunny.

How many shotguns are you buying? One rough shotgun, (actually up to two is allowed) and you can use a gun cable. Places like Francis Lovell of Witney, Oxfordshire, sell them for about £40. The law does not say you have to have a cabinet for a shotgun, and cartridges must be stored somewhere "out of sight", so the "man draw" is acceptable. Also, the law says you must do your best to make it as secure as possible. Now, due to the fact that you've already said the best you can do is a cabinet, this may stop the option of a cable, but for anyone else reading, it's worth noting. The cable needs th

I honestly don't spend a penny. During the winter months, they get rabbit meat that I catch myself with the ferrets or that are air rifled. In the summer, they get given smaller rabbit portions because I can't ferret, but I get free offal from my butcher. Pig lung and heart, which I cut into portions and freeze in bags. One bag a day, put in still frozen if the weather is hot. It's actually good for them because of the protein available, but also top them up with other none meat products such as eggs, often laid by my own chickens. If you can't air rifle for what ever reasons, the butcher will

The one at home is plywood. I have two levels and I can remove the second level for two reasons. 1, so I can clean it with a hose and brush easily (both the second level and then I can practically get in the cage to clean the bottom level) and 2, so If I want to get the ferrets out, they're always within arms reach. Hope this helps, Bunny.

Nope. It's all fine. Checked it all over. plus the likelihood of 7 squeezing through the mesh if there was one is slim. 1 or 2 would be justifiable.
-
I don't know. Like I said. They were fine one night, gone the next morning. The cage is huge. They have plenty of bedding and room. No reason I can think of for it. I'm not too fussed. I wasn't "Attached" just yet, so no massive loss to me. Sure, it's sad, and I would like more to add to my family, will just try them again next year.

Lol! If only. She actually wanted more. She's mad for them. Thinks their cute. It's me that has to do the convincing that 20 is too many.

The Gills are really bloated, and if someone had lifted them, they would need to rip off a series of two padlocks. ALL of my gear is kept in the shed. Locators, nets etc. I have two heavy duty locks and 4 bolts on there. They weren't pinched Nobody goes in or out but me...

6 weeks old. Really unusual, but the are first time mothers, so I will be trying again though.

Checked on the ferrets last night. Bought them some food and checked the water bottles. All was fine. Came up this morning for my lecture at the farm, and checked them again. All 7 kits gone. No way out, nobody else with access but me, no signs of any murder weapon. Who was it? Was it Colonel Mustard with the Candle Stick? Maybe Miss Scarlet with the lead pipe? Or was it mrs. Jill with the Sharp ass teeth? I don't know, all I know now is that I'm looking to replace them if anyone else is looking to give away some older kits in the Oxford area. I'm looking for 5. 3 for myself and 2 fo

Hi Rob, If I were you, I would ignore them about being handed a job on a plate. I by no means only posted on the forum. I put feelers everywhere for summer work. I am studying the Level 3 Extended Diploma at Hartpury and was looking for summer work between my first and second year. I did post it on the forum, but it wasn't the only place, and yet it was the forum that provided me with a result. I see nothing wrong with asking a community of people in the business if they know of anything. Anyone who says different should have their head examined. It's not like I'm going to ask people who don' -
Nah, they did climb it to start, but they never fell. Actually, to be honest at the start, their claws were nice and worn, like walking a dog on a pavement, where they climbed up, then let themselves slide down using their claws to slow themselves. I have 12 in there at the moment including kits. 2 Albino Jills, 2 Albino kits, 7 other kits (colours are starting to come through) and one polecat hob. I plan on keeping 3-4 for myself, so will own between 6 and 7 once the kits are gone. Atb, Bunny.

So, saw a few posts about this years kits, and also about peoples hutches through the summer, so thought I would put mine up too. This is the kits at 2 and 3 weeks (my jills were a week apart).
-
Actually in Oxford mate. More than welcome to come get them when they're ready.

earths after some but they must be broke to terriers Mine are all kits. No dogs introduced. He can break them himself if he fancies the challenge.

Got some that will be ready in 5 or so weeks. Available from Oxford is that helps. Atb, Bunny
