Its vitamin A. Vit A is stored in the liver, and in large doses, vitamin A affects homeobox genes. This means that when pregnant, kits can become deformed. Other than that, excess Vit A is either stored or excreted. But as above, too much of anything is an unbalanced diet. Atb, BB

I passed my Jills with a Vac hob and they came out of season, all of the usual signs, Vulva reducing etc. They looked 'normal' for about 6-8 weeks, and now they are swelling again. I have never encountered this before. Never really read about it either, so, is it just a phase or do I need to find another Vac hob to pass over them again? Cheers for responses, BB

Space and Cost are issues for me. I'm only applying for my first .22 as a rabbit lamping rifle. When I'm more settled and dont have excessive car insurance etc and move house, I would look at getting a larger cabinet and applying for larger calibres, for foxing etc.

Just checking they dont have to be official gun cabinets. Any wall mounted secure container would do. And just by interest, would a locked cash box, which in turn is locked within your cabinet, would that be sufficient? The guidelines do only specify a separate secure container, and if you dont trust your gun cabinet to store some ammo, you shouldnt have your guns in there really... Cheers, BB

I am in the process of applying for both my FAC and SGC. I know about shotgun cartridges and rifle ammo and how they need to be stored, but for rifle ammo, would a mechanical safe from Argos be suitable provided it was wall mounted? Its 2mm walls and 4 mm door with internal hinges and locks. Pair of wire cutters next to the secateurs can always be helpful when purse netting. I would never advise cutting wire on a fence (quick way to piss off your permission owner, but if there is a barbed fence in a bush thats rotting aware etc, and the wire is over a hole or gunna prevent pursing, I would cut it provided it isn't going to affect livestock in a field or annoy the owner etc. This is an opinion and gear based one though as some would just leave it and if one comes out hope the dog gets it. People slate my folding army shovel. It gets called the Teaspoon by Derbylad off here. I stand by it. Its perfect if you're ferreting on your own or if space is a concern. It digs as well as any in my opinion, and it cost me 2 quid on a car boot. Bargain. Atb, BB

Zips with studs at both top and bottom to prevent zip coming undone and holding the waterproof cover over the zip. Can take more pictures if helpful? -
If you mean a letter asking for permission, forget it. Dress in something "countrylike" that is respectable and go door knocking on a Saturday. Get your name heard. Get your contact list full, and when you have a day out, let them know before and after with a summary if you do well. They'll speak to their mates and so on. I got nearly all of mine as a result of asking 3 farmers locally for permission and telling them how many I took. Offer them some of the bag as a thank you. They will probably say no or only take one, and it keeps them sweet. Its only simple courtesy and to be honest, they ca

Errr Actually, people are saying dry food. This doesn't always mean cat biscuits. I said I feed mine dry, but it's ferret food. Different composition, hell it even smells completely different, and to be completely honest, in times of desperation, (twice) I have fed mine cat biscuits because I ran out of ferret dry. They produce similar waste on dry ferret feed as they do when fed meat, because they are similar composition in nutrients, just that one has less water content. However, the occasions they were fed cat food, they were different. Dry, does not mean bad.

I tried making a run with some I had lying around. They could get there head through but not their body and got stuck. Cut the wire and freed her, and swiftly disposed of it. Would not advise at all, and as above, they chew it, they climb on it and bend it, just avoid it. Atb, BB

BB if the kits are being fed crap IMHO the parents are also going to be fed this same crap Why? If the parents are working (as claimed) flesh should nt be a problem to get hold of all year round Y.I.S Leeview Hunting is instinctive behaviour, not innate behaviour. Ergo, if you are picking up kits, diet should not affect your hunting with them in theory. I understand there are other elements to it, but I would also like to point out that my ferrets are from a hunting background, and are effective and brilliant workers, but because I don't shoot or lamp as much as I would like, they someti
