    Great thread, we've got one off these jackies who stands about 10.5 inches to the shoulders. She was bought for the other half as a pet but ended up coming out with me and worked on rats and rabbits. I was looking for another one with a docked tail this time to have a varried work life but the prices were silly prices 250 to 400. So decided to look for a stud dog for next year. I will try and get some pics up of her when I get on the computer. Its interesting to see other peoples as all the other jackies around us are all shapes and sizes... Generally fat.

    thanks for the replies guy, and no I aint fishing. I am interested as getting a dog for a wedding pressent to be used over rats with our current JRT and the possability of foxes.

    I was listening to a discussion in the pub about ye old fox dogs and which one was best and why JRt were not suitable. During this I heard that JRT were not suitable as they were not stockey enough to block the hole and their heads were the wrong shape as the fox could grab hole, and if a JRT was entered then they may get a bit of abuse, and end up with big vet bills. now I though that JRTs were origianally used for that job. They proceeded to say that patterdales and borders are more suitable for the jobs, due to their stockier build and their heads? I dont know much on th

    Hi just wanting any advise of any body. I am training my lurcher pup now 8 months nearly 9 to retrieve and he brings thngs back to me and ok with dummies and dead rabbits but the odd live one he has caught he brings it to about 10 yards away and stops there and holds it on the floor. Any advice ont eh last 10 yards?

    Hi there just come on to this site. Well I am from yorkshire I have a terrier and a lurcher and two handful of ferrets and use them on rabbbits, the terrier on rats. I go out shooting when I can. Oli
