Out with the Weihrauch HW97KT and the Barnett Diablo catapult
Guzzik replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Should be. The rifle has been tuned etc and the correct pellets have been discovered by going through an aweful lot of rounds and different brands in the field. Just up to me now -

Nice bit of shooting Sir. Wonder if my XS 19 will be capable of the same range and accuracy -
A great idea. The one problem we have here is the tenancy rules.........NO PETS ALLOWED so, the neighbour next door has a Staffi and others have cats so, we are bringing the one dog in under the umbrella as it were and hope for the best! Sounds like it will end up in the local dog pound when the landlord finds out to me. Take a chance with a kitten not a well bred working dog Wont happen:) Landlord can go eff himself coz i would be making sure every other bugger with an animal was told to get rid of them as well and the land lord would not stand the court case that would com

Nice looking bitch and a nice looking fox. A question if I may? Are fox furs any use these days?

Fair do's Simon. The other thought was Ferrets. Oh well, no doggie for me Thanks for the help though guys:) John

Its safe enoughbro:) I like lurchers, i do.....She (the wife) isn't going with me hunting so, I can use a lurcher, I can really......Just talking my self into it now I know it is legal
-
Lets see if this works Simon then you can see the area. http://maps.google.c...=h&z=18&vpsrc=6 I also have the field beyond the boundry as well. The area where the rabbits are coming in are from the bushes all around the perimeter of the area, and none towards the gravestones area. I did think about the road etc hence why I wanted to put my neck on the block as it were with you guys who do this all the time. John
-
No, flat as a pancake with gravestones at one end:) It is a Cemetary:) The permission is also in an really awkward area, right beside a main road and round a bout and is lit constanly with the over head sodium lights for the road leading up to the round a bout and the round a bout proper. Trying to shoot the b*stards is virtually a no go as they can see anyone approach all bloody night so, problems all round. John

I kinda thought that:). Thanks for the answer. John

I did that with mine unintentionally filmed a dogger. And NO I don't and wouldn't use it for "covert operations" against hunters either! I was trying to film a family of Owls to put up on a local Wildlife Trusts web site and got more than I bargained for!!! The camera was on location for 2 months day and night, four nights a week the same guy with the same car and different woman were there doing their thang! Dirty effers.................Jealous I was:(

I don't know you bro but I feel for you. When my lurcher had to be put down after having him for 9 years by my side 24/7 I was totally lost. Have a drink on him bro and think of the good times. The next one will be different and the good times will come back:) John

We are thinking of getting a dog for coney hunting on the permissions I have. We cann't decide between a jack or a Lurcher though. When it comes to personal preference, I am for a lurcher and Louise is for a Jack. So, over to youse guys who use these dogs on a daily basis. What are your thoughts, also, what would be the rough price of a jack pup or a lurcher pup? John

Spring air rifle shooting.
Guzzik replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Brilliant post Simon. I have come back to shooting after a nigh on 8 years break. Have used springers for 40 years with a short time with an Alros PCP about 1996. Got my self an SMK XS19 .22 that has been resprung etc with a tune up kit from Woodfield Gun care Products. Shoots like a dream now at 11.4 foot pounds using RWS Super Domes. I must admit to liking the looks of some of the PCP's out there but I prefer a springer. Keep up the great posts buddy:) John -
Nice post about starting shooting with a springer. All i can add really is, once you get used to holding the rifle properly, your grouping should tighten up. A lot of folks grip a springer in a "death" grip due to the recoil. Springers are meant to recoil so let it BUT, keep a firm grip on it all the same:) I am sure one of the guys who is more eloquent than I am will put it better:) Best of luck and welcome to spring powerd air gunning:). And, I am assuming you are new to shooting, if I am wrong please do forgive me:) John

My Rifle Isnt Shooting Well
Guzzik replied to Michael Dykes's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I am with Tony on this. I came back to shooting after a nigh on 7 year break and assumed I was going to be as good as when I was doing comps and teaching shooting before I stopped..............Just made my self look a total plonker in front of the bunnies till it dawned on me. 150 pellets later and I am nearly there again:) John -
smk 19 air rifle
Guzzik replied to LyndonCarwynPitt's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Yes, they are nearly, you would need to see one in the flesh to see what I mean. I am right handed but my "boss" eye is my right so, with rifle I shoot from my left shoulder moslty but can shoot nigh on as good from my right shoulder. So I use ambidextrious stocks. -
:cray: Don't swear at me........i is lickle n feeble n fings . Hiya. Funny meeting you here

smk 19 air rifle
Guzzik replied to LyndonCarwynPitt's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Yes, I have the XS19 and it is great. Shoots at 11.4 foot pounds with a "Welsh Willy" tune up kit although some of them do over 11 foot pounds from the box with superdomes. Nice and light, mine came with a moderator that stops the rifle going CCCRAAAAAAAAAKKKKK!!! And more a PPPHUTT! Good accuracy as well. Obviously a PCP pisses all over it for accuracy and weight ect. I just like springers, feels like I am doing something when they fire:) Oh, mine is in 22 and LOVES RWS Super Domes:) John -
Now then Gary, I AM a key holder BUT, in their wisdom, the cemetery committee wont lock the side gate, only the main gates for cars to come through? And when I asked them about locking the side gate they wouldn't have it. Luckly the areas where I shoot are between half and 5 acres away from the actual graves them selves. John
-
Hi Gary. One night it was nine oclock when two silly effers turned up to look at a grave and clean the head stone!! John
-
So, I gets this new permission which is a cemetary. The graves are being devestated by the bunnies and the childrens area is enough to make one cry with all the holes being dug into the graves. Anyway, I have a key to the gate and can go in anytime I like as long as it is dark. I can also drive the car around the place coz it has a cobbled road way all around it:) Nice for when the wind is blowing from the West or it is raining. So, I am sat in the car about 10 mins before sundown just looking to see where I would start the nights hunting when, I see two figures, one male and one female.

I couldn't get in the regulars due to being deaf in one ear. Always wanted to be in The RAF as part of the RAF regiment or dare I say it, a snowdrop. Still, I did a stint in the T.A. Then went in to the ATC as an adult W.O teaching cadets field craft and shooting, drill, and was one of the DoE officers for our Squadron. One of our cadets came back from the first gulf war on leave and was visiting the squadron. He was standing in the drill hall and was staring at the female cadets with a pursed mouth type look. One of our other Warrents asked him why he was eyeballing the females cadets an
