  1. It really is ridiculous. It upsets me that the media can easily twist the general public's perception on hunters by posting articles such as this. Criminals use it as a front to steal farm equipment. I'm sure that does happen on extremely rare occasions... but come on. Don't tare us all with the same brush. We aren't criminals! It's also making it impossible to find permission. All I want to do catch a few bunnies but as soon as the farmers hear I have a saluki X Lurcher I pretty much get told to f**k off.... They say that the shooting season is in and there is no running dogs allowed on t
  2. I know mate it's a joke. Police. PoPo, 5-0, Anyone of those
  3. http://www.huntspost...shire_1_1659309 I'm glad my hard earned tax money is being spent well! They used to have a dedicated chopper for catching the evil coursers.
  4. In actual fact my current pup is out of a good daytime dog and night time dog. Sire was great on day time stuff. Dam was great on the lamp. + = Will have to see how this one turns out though
  5. who, me??? no gareth dont get the question is it not normal for a dog to work day and night atb Id say it is. But a lot of dogs often have the 'edge' on one or the other.
  6. I had a Bitch when I lived in Ireland that was great both night and day. Used to bag up at least 10 - 20 rabbits a night and used to get 4 out of 5 Hares in the day. She was a 3/4 greyhound with a touch of collie and saluki in the mix. Cracking dog. Very tall but handled the rabbits perfectly. She did take a long time to get 'good' but when she hit around 2 she was unstoppable. Unfortunately I lost her to a horrible disease when she was 5. Not the best photo. But this was her. EDIT: Whoops misread the question. However, the Dam to her was a coursing dog. Crossed dow
  7. I used to know a guy with a whippet that was so gamey it would run full speed into a hedge like it wasn't even there.. Ended up killing itself running into a gate at full speed.
  8. It is my Bitches first season and took her out properly for the first time the other night with another friends dog. She did really well sticking to the.. rabbits like glue. Took 2 of them but both were caught by my friends dog. Second bunny she turned very well and at one point I was sure she caught it, but only nudged it with her nose she was hot on it though turn after turn. My bitch is a Saluki X and my friends was a beddywhipet... Overall very pleased with her performance for her first night out. Time to get some more hours in and bag up a few kills now!
  9. Cheers. Sire was a Saluki X Greyhound and the Dam was a Saluki X Colie X Greyhound
  10. Good advice everyone. And I will get her a winter coat for when it gets worst. It's the dam puppy dog eyes she gives me when i tell her it's time for bed, that's what made me make this topic. She looks at me like one of those dogs off the adopt a greyhound adverts. I imagine her curled up in a little ball shivering all night Ok maybe not that extreme... Giving me the eyes now... she knows it's nearly time.... She knows...
  11. Jesus mate im only pulling your leg. Its your dog you do what you see fit. Its not going to bother the dog if you put it in the kennel even if its minus whatever. If your that bothered then buy it a winter jacket.. ...........you cant think of a dog like a human Lol, sorry. It's stoptober and my nicotine levels are tingling. I'm a little cranky to say the least. I may actually get her a Jacket for the winter.... But she wont be going out in public with it on
  12. Yeah it's not a major concern of mine. But I sat watching her this evening by the fire and felt kind of bad knowing that she was going outside in a few moments. I know she's warm outside, but it got me wondering if it makes a big difference for the dog being in the warm before bed.
  13. It's not really. I'm sure there are plenty people who have a dog inside now and again but have them sleep outside. She's been sleeping outside for months, she's used to it. But my dog is a worker and a pet. The kids enjoy the dog inside the house. But she sleeps outside. Il be sure to keep her locked in her kennel from now on though I'm not sure why this thread needed a sarcastic reply, just trying to spark up some conversation. I'l remember not to do it again.
  14. The weather is getting colder as we all know. The fire is getting lit and the heating on more and more. My bitch has a kennel outside and has slept out there since spring. I have her out of the house during the day and in the evenings I have her inside. Then bed times comes and she is off outside and into her cold kennel. I feel like a bit of an asshole kicking her out of the nice warm house and into the cold. But she's an outdoor dog and destroyed the kitchen where she used to sleep as a pup. So off outside she went. I guess what i'm trying to say is... Do you think If dogs a
  15. LOL Yeah I would go for a pup. I agree, it's hard to find someone selling an older dog for genuine reasons. But it's not unheard of. it aint funny im going bold before my time Lol, I know mate. It's just the way you said it, made me laugh Sorry to hear your dog is a prick.

  17. Lovely looking dog and nice result. Nice one..
  18. You don't have any preferences on how its bred? Try preloved or gumtree.
  19. I have seen 2 dogs die while out hunting. 2 completely different situations but both horrible to wittness. Both happened while I was living in Ireland. The first time I was out coursing with a friend of mine and one of the local traveller boys, lets call him paddy. Paddy had a young Saluki cross pup with him. Stunning little bitch that really showed potential. It was the first time I had been out with Paddy and I could tell immediately that he didn't really know what he was talking about / doing. He was pulling hard on the lead because the pup wasn't walking with him. It looked lik
  20. I will get a better picture of her later. This one is old now. She's a lot more ripped now. Saluki / Hound / Collie
  21. Yeah that's it. She runs ahead looking for the next rabbit... to run past . But you are right. I think that is what she's doing. Cheers mate.
