    .22lr will do nicely but I've seen it done around farms with a sub 12ft/lb air rifle. Try to shoot the adults first as they are a little quicker to wise up and scarper if they see the younger ones shot-IF you get hassle from yoghurt knitting bunny huggers tell them that the cats are killing the Barn Owls-that should give them something to ponder.

    I think The Duncan is being a little conservative with the truth-he actually cannot walk to the toilet without someone giving him permmision to shoot .Bin shooting near 35 years and never met a more natural shot or genuine countryman

    IMHO business cards are no good unless you deliver them by hand-this is your window to make an impression on the landowner.Even if the answer is no ask if you might call again in a years time - this proves that you are both serious and patient.Geography can also determine the ease of gaining permission-where i live in central Bucks it can be almost impossible to get land unless you have a connection with the owner-whereas everytime i travel to Cambs. i find more and more land (a year or so back we were going pigeon shooting over clover in a village in Cambs but when we arrived we found that th

    Duncans got the hump with his hummer at the mo cos I pulled off a longer shot with it than him-mind you he can normally beat my .22 rimmie with rolled up spit balls thru a Bic pen.
