The best way to introduce hand signals to your dog get the trainning dummy tennis ball or what ever it enjoys picking up. Start of just concentrating on either left or right hand signals first keep the dog on a lead to start with and either throw its retrieve to either left or right make sure your dog sees it being thrown and Sit it up walk back a few steps not to far back so if it moves before being released you can stop it quickly and sit it up Once its sat and watching you give it the get on command with a hand signal to either the left or right but make sure you extend your body with

I am assuming its the switch when looking at switch trying to turn it on I see blue sparks from the switch and it starts melting the plastic part of the switch. If it is the cable were could I get a new one? -

Aye I know ste at rainford. I had a bust up with him 3 years ago long story but your right he is one missrable aragunt c**t who should not own never mind run a buisness. I found a old deben switch from a old lamp it was a 6 volt lamp wired it up and it did the same instantly. But I honestly know nothing about electrics. Could it be a fault with the wireing or the lamp? Or was me attempting to put that switch on my stupidity? -
Hi guys just got back from what should of been a full nights lamping firts field showed a few bunnies. Got 15 yard off the first one slip and she nailed it. Same field 50ish yards on another cracking little course and another in me bag any way 1 and half fields further and a total of 5 in the bag my lamp starts to play up then works. Spot a good rabbit in the middle of the field started creeping up on it flick the lamp on and slipped the dog then darkness. I know it wasn't the battery as it was fully charged. The dam switch burnt out so had to call it a night. At least I got something for the

Ferret Re-homing thread - Free to good homes ONLY

Hi guys looking for an extra ferret either smallish hob or a gill. I am near wigan only have a gill at the moment but with the land I have its all to much for just the one can anyone help please? -
I don't really struggle putting a collar on her. Its just getting her to keep it on. I have some old drain pipe in her hutch and when she has it on she goes in it to the other end puts some of the collar on the end and drags it off. If after a couple of weeks if she want keep it on. Then I will have to get a harness to put a tracker on.

Cheers for advice guys.

Ok tar mate I will give that a try. What do I do about the collar thing do I just keep putting a collar on and leave it on for a bit to get her use to it?
-
Hi guys tryed giving my ferret some raw lambs liver and she want eat it. Why could this be? I gave her a raw egg and she loved it. But with the liver she just sniffed and licked it but would not eat it. My mate reccons that she might have been a pet but the guy I got her off said before I even told him what it was for said she is a worker and worked her him self. Could she just be fussy? Plus when I try to put a collar on her she just fights with it to get it off. And I don't want to use her if she keeps doing that. What should I do?
-
Use a rope slip lead aswell as the collar that way u can control how loose or tight the loop is that's around his neck. And when you see a potential slip for him loosen the loop off enough so that when your with in distance u get the loop and slip him that's what I do as that's the only lead I have at the moment or put a extra hole in the collar.

Got a problem pal?

Hi guys out of curiosity how many people use locators? And how many still use the old fashioned method with a collar and a load of string? Also I have just got a ferret that's about a year n a half to 2 year old good to handle and has been worked. What's the best way to build the bond up with her?

Ideal Weather But Poor Performance
Lancashire Hunter replied to Lancashire Hunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Cheers mate. I have always given her maximum slip of 40 yards if I know it is a doable slip and that she can catch it and she normally does catch them. When I got home as I said in the post I dragged it around the floor for a bit letting her take it and call her back grab hold of the rabbit with 1 hand and take a piece of ham out and said dead and gave her the ham which worked. Her recall is fine as she came running straight back to me with it but just wouldn't let me take it from her mouth tryed squeezzing the back of her jaw but it was littrally locked solid. Going to start doing a lot of tr -
Hi guys I just got in from a quick 2 hour lamp about near me plenty about weather conditions were perfect good strong wind plenty of cloud belting. I managed to put a gud 5 bunnies in the beam and slipped me dog on them all as they were all a good 40 or so yards out and she missed them only on bunny number 6 she managed to catch. Rather annoyed about it aswell as they were all easy takings how she missed them I do not know. But on the plus I came home with something so rabbit curry is on the menu for me tomorow night. The other problem I had was taking the rabbit off her was very difficult

Young Hunters How Old We're You ?
Lancashire Hunter replied to jonny10's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I was 5 my grandad was a gamekeeper and was out with him down the wood shooting squizzers and rats with his old side by side hammer 410 trapping foxes and corvids and watched him and helped or interfierd depending on how you see it with the rearing feeding of the birds and digging foxes with the terriers flushing them to gun or dogs. Brings back some great memories and one day hope to follow in his footsteps. -
Hi guys not sure if this is the right section for this but is there any lurcher men in skelmersdale on here? If so how about a meet up and work the dogs?
