    we hunt a lot of sheep land where the fields are as baldy as the road and where the hares can normally fly but as i say they seem to be soft for the time of year we have only met an odd 1 thats up and running right, maby they are running well in other places cant comment as we will only start travelling about the country from next month onwards

    most of the hares we are meeting are still soft it must be down to the long summer and the ongoing mild weather

    best lurcher iv seen run was a bitch my brother in law had about 15 year ago she was a brillant bitch she could kill hares on any land, no saluki in her he bought her at the time for 50 pound

    id never charge a mate for pup or service of a dog and if i ever had a dog good enough for stud it would only go to select bitches that i taught wer good enough money wouldnt come into it, thats just the way id work

    i never charged a penny in my life for a pup always gifted to lads i was hunting with, but it seems by the looks of things theres good money to be made all you hear is 300 500 even heard lately 800 for a pup maybe its just me but all this promotes is excess breeding as theres piles of litters breed in ireland every year how many make the grade?? so where does the wastage end up on the merry go round for the rest of there days

    i saw a dog years ago a big white dog 28 inchs heavy set dog he looked useless but he was actually a fair good 1 he was put over 4 bitches and there was pups in every litter that was decent enough i got a pup out of him a nice white bitch i had her 14 year she was prob the best lurcher i ever had.. thats what i call a good stud

    ya barry john s told me the mother was a very good bitch, he is very happy with the bitch he got off your bro in law, ya i saw the brother to that red and white dog run a few rabbits he looks a sharp pup

    ya barry peter is happy with his 1, i never seen the mother of them running but peter was saying she was good, ya peter knows a few spots are carlow theres meant to be nice few hares on them so should be bit of craic next winter
