our best ferret pinky has picked up a nasty injury, when she tries to walk she falls on her side,shes in no pain,always wanting to play and is eating and drincking ok.my uncle took her to the vets on monday and was told she had problem with her spine and prescribed metacam but showing no signs of improvement.any help and advice please as its upsetting my uncle. thanks in advance PF

we have just aquired some ferreting permission in a very large wood with a public footpath straight through the middle of it.i knew there were a few badgers in there but when having a mooch looking for rabbit setts came across badger setts along a steep bank .must have been over 100 holes spread over 500 yard bank.luckely all rabbit setts were on edge of wood

live on the nottingham/leicester border never seen so many rabbits for years. alot are living on top only to ground when cold and frosty. -

me uncle took our two jills to vets today to be spayed before they come in season, the vet examinated them first and said that they realy needed to be jabbed for distemper before being spayed,as if they get distemper after being spayed they will be dead within ten days.this advice got me uncle worried about his babys so he had em jabbed for distemper at a cost of £65, and they are going back for spaying in two weeks if they have not come in to season, if so then its a jill jab.i think its a load of crap he has been told and we have been ripped off,you lads and lasses on here know more about f

great post DS,having just got back in to ferreting after a lay of for neary 30 years things have certainly changed,some for the good and in my opinion some for the bad. im 47 now and last ferreted in my teens when ferrets were hard to come by, no ferret rescue, ad mag,internet,etc,now adays everybodys got em they are a very popular pets,resulting in the hunting instinct being bred out of them.went to look at some ferrets at a rescue recently christ most of em you could of put a saddle on, if they got hold of a rabbit in a hole it would never get away resulting in a dig ,all ours could walk thr -
went out this afternoon to look at some sets i been asked to clear the bunnies due to em eating all the corn growing in field at side of sets. bloody hell rabbits every where, had took dog and pup and dog was putting rabbits out thick hedge and brambles and most were heading for the sets i was heading for.in corner of field were 3 large mounds each with 30 to 40 holes a few brambles but nothing to hard and i can park motor very close. the bleedin rabbits had stripped corn 3 metres in to field,on walking back noticed dog going mad at hedge/sheep fence trying to get through as i approached he f

we use a stihl saw with disc removed, a four foot metal flexi pipe is fitted to exaust manifold and a rich mix in tank,plenty of smoke,the local shoot have one the same but on a chain saw.not sure where to get one as ours belongs to me mate and hes a groundworker cutting slabs etc with it when we not ratting.

our patterdale developed a limp at four months old on hind leg , but had not seen him knock it or any thing,so took him straight to vets, on looking at him vet showed me his legs looking from arse end and you could clearlly see one leg thicker than other,she said muscle in leg had not developed,straight in for xray poor bugger had broken off top halve of ball joint. vet said it was quite common injury, easy to repair but hard to get muscle to strengten up.next day he went in for operation, broken piece of bone removed from top of ball joint then whats left shaped to go in socket.he came home s

sister in law has a small pedigre black poodle when she goes away my missis looks after it, and muggins here has to take it for a walk.any way first time felt a right prat walking up lane poodle one side patterdale the other, but once i got in the fields and let em off leads poodle ran like grease lightening pat putting rabbits up poodle chasing em.it not be long before it gets one, only problem it gets shit up with having curly coat . sis in law can go away as much as she wants ill look after it. what do you get if you cross a bull dog with a shitsu

just joined thought id introduce myself, i have a patterdale dog 17 months, a border x patterdale dog 5 months,and 2 albino jill ferrets.am no david bailey but will try and post some pics soon.
